Another thumbs up for JAG lockdowns and rod lockers. Love mine and unlike some of the others grips about, after you press the release button on the JAG's all your gear doesn't lift off the ground when you pick a rod up.

Solar rear rests for 90% on there own, and have the jag rod lockers with them for if i need it.
Another one for JAG.
I've gone from Solar adjustables > Jag lockdowns and back to the newer Solar P1's. I loved the compact look of the Jag ones but prefer the Solar. But, it's absolutely personal preference - both are very good, in my opinion, anyway.

where the takes can be savage from 80lb plus carp here is Eric demo ing them simply unscrew what ever rear rod rest your using put the but bungee on screw back your rod rest

Most rests in the end stretch and the grip is lost.
You need something behind the grip to be absolutely sure.

Rip off? third year now that i use the PB Products Bungee Rod Locks and the still do the job and that only for £5,27, cheapest Richard & Clayton Butt bungee I found in my country is £15,41...

ESP butt grips for £3.95 a piece..just make sure you get the right size. My rods almost click into mine and are super secure..they fit so snug i'm worried about my pod and all 3 rods going in the water now

Personally don't like the Jag Lockdown butt rests - the inserts are a faff when swopping between rods of differing diameters; Solar P1 Centre Locks are waaay better and yes I own both types.
As for snag fishing whatever happened to neville ball clips (used to be standard on Century NG's)? I have them whipped onto all my rods(offs set behind the reel seat) and in conjunction with P1s are excellent for most UK snag fishing. Do like the idea of the Jag Rod lockers (the quick release button) but surely they are overkill unless fishing for continental monsters?

Nothing wrong with esp or John roberts butt grips and as said before I don't like the idea with jag inserts that you have to buy a pk per rest I think there more of a tarty thing tbh

yes the PB products is cheaper and it shows to !!
yes it will do the job some people will prefer that version its your money you buy what you want but trust me its not even half the quality of the proper one in this instance you certainly do get what you pay for
