Also, ive seen a lot of anger directed at omc and hamindi, over this. And i may have missed it, but doesnt seem to be anything in relation to the shops stocking it.
Surely if people want to send a message, boycoting the shops selling them, is far more effective than going at him on facebook, which clearly isnt working. Money talks at the end of the day. If the shops suffer, they wil stop stocking it. Plenty out there who wont/dont stock it for people to use

The shop I use have a omc account and won't stock the twig,there is a video on YouTube now of a young lad using it.I think one comment sums it up perfectly,it says that the lad is exactly the kind of person Ali knew would buy this.That is not the comment word for word but its the generally jist of it,unfortunately its out there now and people will use it even if banned.

He's sold loads just for the sake of seeing it and trialling. Our club has bought some, as have hundreds of others and anglers themselves. He's made enough just from that alone.
If it really falls foul of the thames byelaws that's a huge area. It includes Oxfordshire, Berkshire, London areas. It's vast and very busy angler wise. It's a massive market which will impact sales no end.

No comment from the Angling Trust on an item of tackle that by all accounts 'could' be detrimental to fish safety, there's a surprise given that Ali Hamedi is listed as an ambassador.

Not sure. I'd imagine the return on the initial run of them being made is pretty low. All the monet spent flying a film crew round the world to try get footage of ot working, they must have hundreds and hundreds of thousands riding on it.
The irony is, if it truly was a game changer, all they needed to do was send that footballer bloke to linear amd let him outfish everyone else.

I think if the angling trust get involved in one particular company's product it puts them in a very difficult position in the future and alienates that particular company.
if it was a method of catching using tackle available from all company's and constructed in a way that resulted in a death rig then I think it would be different but I don't think they will alienate one company in this way.

30g of injection moulded plastic and a spring in a cardboard box does not take hundreds of thousands of pounds to put on the shelves.
The ‘inventor' likely got a few packets of hooks upfront and the promise of a fortune in future royalties. A few Ryanair flights and more hooks to the carp anglers with cameras for the YouTube video. The rest of the marketing is being done for free by the hate campaign.

I think you make a fair point. I started carp angling free lining or with a float, and tbh, i laughed and looked down upon those using the self hooking mechanism called bolt rig. This thing by omc is dangerous, but as i see it only adds something after the hooking, a bit like a fully loaded springer.
All in all, if you want it banned i think you have to find another angle than fish automatically.
Anyways, we've looked at this thing from many angles now and i'm starting to believe it's nothing but utter crap, adds nothing, and therefore after the initial hype, will die a silent death.

I reckon OMC are nowhere near making any profit yet though. Seem to remember one of the owners, possibly the fashion / sealskinz guy put £1 million in.

Don't expect too much from the Angling Trust. I messaged them two years ago suggesting they should make a statement regarding the use of hormones in angling, other than a reply stating they would forward my message to their campaigns team, nothing.

The fact it has a swivel at either end and therefore cannot be dropped / ejected in a break off is a fundamental step backwards. Then the fact it's a weed rake, then the fact it doesn't really work... It's not really got much going for it has it

It's highly unlikely that they would have expected to turn a profit in the first few years. They are trying to establish a multi million pound international brand, not open a sandwich shop.

Depends on your definition of cheap.
It doesn't cost hundreds of thousands of pounds for something like this twig though. If it did we wouldn't have all the cheap knock off internet tackle companies.
Mass production of billions of different little bits of plastic and the competition to make them mean that the cost to produce injection moulds is lower than it once was. Particularly if you have manufacturing experience and know where to go. You would assume these guys will know that information between them.
