Seems this sort stuff was largely unnoticed in my Non Carp thread but I'm glad it's finally getting noticed.
All these schemes do is divert traffic into fewer roads and into gridlock.
Yes we have to reduce our reliance on cars but in my personal experience it doesn't work.
In the link Oxford and Canterbury are mentioned but also Derby, not heard about that one, anyone know?

My friend has not many days ago sent me a link whereby ,a huge swathe of East Devon is to be developed, this is between Honiton and Sidmouth..
This apparently encompasses, takes in many small villages, hamlets etc..it looks like a small city is being created ,a smart city...

There's a difference between some of the topics you've mentioned and road schemes in my opinion.
Whereas some of the topics mentioned are based around unknown people conspiring and undercover in the background, these road schemes are being implemented by local councils, the people we have the opportunity to vote for, if people can be bothered.
These people will often divert traffic from where they live or where people of influence live to other areas, areas where the poorer often live under the guise that they are fighting climate change, reducing pollution and promoting active travel . All these schemes do is move it from one place to another.
It's heartbreaking when you see ambulances trying to access the areas where it has become gridlock.
One of the main culprits encouraging this behaviour is not someone lurking in the background, she's easily found

Ambulances... unfortunately they'll have a longer wait when they get to A and E ...
The level of paranoia on here is getting a little crazy
We've gone from a proposed traffic reduction scheme to Logans Run and a worldwide secret agenda. (The Island is a very good update of the Logans run idea btw)
Of course there'll be councillors abusing their position with stuff like this. But, we do need to start thinking differently about all things 'green ' if we want to leave anything worthwhile after we're pushing up daisies (hopefully not through concrete)

So that leaves me asking you. What are you saying it doesn't matter if ambulances are delayed because they'll only be waiting outside hospitals.

One can't dismiss the aspects of green policy you don't like as greenwashing just because it means you might personally have to make changes - not a dig at you, but an observation . We're past the point where can do 'short term' because the knock on effects of so much of what we do are most definitely long term.

The missus has just rang. She's out doing Christmas shopping at a retail park.
She's been trying to get out of a car park for 30 minutes but can't because of gridlock and there's no sign of it improving.
They've changed the road layouts so the cycle lanes are now wider than vehicle lanes, buses have lost their bus lane and are now stuck with the other vehicles and guess what. Not one cyclist has been seen, and who can blame them in this weather.
I'm not anti cycling, I used to cycle a lot but this madness has to be stopped. Of course make it safe to cycle but let's not create more pollution than necessary.
So yes I can dismiss failures of green policy.
I hope you're not too cold when you out on your bike doing the weekly shop and your air source heat pump is keeping the house warm without the need for electricity as back up. LINK

For God's sake don't try the South Circular in the morning rush hours. Especially when there are roadworks and water leaks. You will lose you're s@#t. Not to mention the BMW, Mercedes, and Audi Drivers. Speaking of Mercedes, isn't it serendipitous that Mr Benz's daughter wasn't named Brunhilda.

Do you know how many cyclists are making that pollution? Exactly none. Its a load of people in cars buying into rampant consumerism because of a fat bloke in a red suit or a bloke who looked like me when I was younger that they possibly don't believe in.
Like I said. We can't pick and choose just because we might have to adapt our ways. We really do all need to re-think things.
If I remember rightly there was a scheme in place near Oxford on some of the commuter roads where they encouraged car sharing to reduce pollution. Did they set up cameras to look for passengers in the front seat? First thing people did was try to find ways around it. ...
And I can't believe you let Mrs tinhead do the shopping by herself.

Don't need to be electric, you can do that with most modern cars being “connected” now anyway. Anybody ever read the t's and c's that essentially you have a tracker on your car now. And dont forget the microchip they implanted during the vaccine rollout can talk to anything with Bluetooth btw.
Do find it a bit of a leap from “cars only being allowed into a city centre for x amount of days a year” to not being able to drive a car anywhere at any time.......

In Ipswich bollards were placed along the cycle lanes on Colchester and Valley Roads to 'protect' cyclists. It actually made the road more dangerous for all road users, including cyclists.
To avoid the bollards, the few cyclists are now being forced into the gutter where rubbish ends up. Cars can't pull over if an emergency vehicle is on flashing blues as the bollards prevent it.
Also on part of Colchester Road, houses have an access road alongside the main road, separated by a verge, cyclists would frequently use that rather than the cycle path anyway, only coming back into the path at the last access point for a roundabout.
