Can everyone just remember that the quality of seed and particles that you guys buy is a direct reflection of the growing conditions that each country is going through each year. If your tiger nuts are crap, full of holes, and small, it's down the farming conditions in Spain. Same with hemp in China or France. Us poor anglers tend to get given whatever is available. Some years, all of the hemp here in the U.K. is awful and I still haven't found any decent hemp at all this year but I do know that nash have a fairly decent batch. There are two or three particles that always seem consistent. Pigeon conditioner with aniseed, buckwheat and maize! I guess they must be fairly hardy things to grow! We sell a lot of buckwheat maize and pigeon conditioner and peanuts, tigers are fairly popular now too. But the particle market now has been saturated and there is a flood or poor particles out there. The list of complaints from anglers about poor prepared particles is off the scale this year.........and cooking your own is so easy!
Give it a go if you haven't already tried is my advice

have to agree here, ,my local seed merchants tigers have been brilliant, had a bag from hinders as was in a pinch and i didnt use them.
hemp has been awful this year also, most my parti fishing this year has been over crushed tiger/flaked & whole maize and maples.
love using peanuts but still looking for a decent supplier.

Tigers in the U.K. can be 3/4 years old! You may well be using a different (newer or older) batch. I have some nice ones in large at the moment and they are from a very well known common supplier

Funny you should mention that, cause this year for the first time shops (well, the one i'm visisting) are selling tigers with a label, including date of production, batch number and best before date. Very happy to finally see that, especially with tigers.
And surprise, surprise, they slime like mad, as fresh ones tend to do:P

Ian. If you are stuck for tigers I've got a few bags of uncooked decent ones. You are welcome to a bag if you are stuck for them. Let me know and I will meet up with you somewhere.

If anyone would care to share where great quality tigers can be bought I'd very much appreciate it.

I bought my last lot from a guy who sells them at the lake. They are in unbranded bags so I'm sorry I can't help you with any ideas on buying them online etc. I wouldn't have thought G&M Growers would do a postal order but I might be wrong.
