Too many precious people in the bait side of Carp angling these days, sponsored anglers scared to tell the truth, bait companies putting pressure on anglers to name drop their bait in return for a few £'s less per kilo, wannabe's who are so desperate to get a "bait deal" they lie through their teeth and the media darlings who literally don't give a toss as long as they are catching and their free bait keeps coming.

I certainly wouldn't be pleased if I was a young impressionable youth who had bought all the crap he says he uses, and then he went and said how he has other edges he doesn't tell people about.

There are companies out there who have morals and do things properly. They are a minority but they do exist. Those who lie or sell their soul always get found out in the end!

Many have known the industry is full of fluffers and liars for years, yet if you had said the same five-ten years ago, you would have been accused of being "jealous" by people who don't work in the industry, never have, and claim they are billy big spuds because they got picked along with 50 others to be a "brand ambassador" or whatever nonsense these companies come out with for promotion.
A mate once told me to "follow the money" and someone else said "question everything". It puts you in good stead for life, and thankfully kept me out of an industry which has got worse through greed. People often ask when the bubble will burst? Well, it burst over a decade ago. People just keep filling the bottle up though hoping the bubbles will be bigger next time. Same end result.

The way I see the angling world is this. You can take note of what social media shows you, occasionally it will direct you to a good product or a good story. Also some or the best anglers in the U.K. are on social media and it's the only way you will ever get an insight to what they do. I always like to see what Lee petty is up to, or James salmons or any of the dozens of brilliant anglers out there who just go fishing! Sure, it's full of helmets who would sell there own gran for a pot of pop ups but isn't that the same in society in general? We only see the glory don't we, never the blanks or cock ups. We love to shoot people down or disregard a capture for whatever reason. Social media is full of people I can't stand but I just flick past them or don't follow them and my life is so much better without negativity. The stroke pullers, time bandits, glory hunters of this world are probably happy doing what they do so let them crack on! If it comes to light that they have been pumping hormones into lakes then they will labelled forever. I have spent my angling life going wherever I want, paid for by my job, having a family that matters more than carp, but more importantly....I have loved every minute of it. I'm on the bank now and I'm loving it to the max even though the carp are playing hard ball. Don't drown in a sea of negativity, don't copy everyone, just fish with your mates and on your own terms and be honest with yourself! If you are any good at it, someone will spot you and that free tin of pop ups will find its way to you!! Don't forget to post the pics up 🕺🏼😂
