The trouble is all coats are designed for normal use walking moving around as fishermen we are a bit different sitting around for hours on end
The proof was when I started to pack up moving around the coat felt warmer
I also have a a speero army type it feels warmer when sitting than torrent

My mistake, the Fortis ones then. Either way, waterproofing was poor for the money paid for them (my opinion only).That's why I went back to the snugpak sleeka & salopettes with goretex waterproofs over the top. I have found this to be far superior for my needs.

I think the Torrent extreme is supposed to be better in regards to it keeping you warm while not having to move about , I've not had either the torrent or the torrent extreme but remember reading something along them lines

I have the Extreme and wish I'd gone for the standard. Unless you're heading into minus temps it's a bit too warm imo.
The Mrs has a standard Torrent and it's the nuts.

I ordered the Standard Torrent, it arrived today.
First impression was that it is a lot thinner than expected, tried it on and the fit was good, even with my Jumper underneath. It was literally a quick try on but it did feel very warm.
I'll be doing a few work nights the next couple of weeks so will give it a go and report back.

I have the aqua f12 and used it for a few years, it was sold as 10k hydrostatic... its not that waterproof and leaks after a while, its not that warm either. Im looking at the fortis or snugpak to replace.

I have a snugpak torrent, a fortis marine outer shell and a fortis fj6.
The marine jacket is a lot more waterproof than the torrent and the fj6 is a lot warmer than the torrent, i use the fj6 for fishing and the marine liner over the top if i need a waterproof layer, i much prefer the layer system as i can remove the outer layer to sit under brolly etc without wetting chair.
I wear the torrent for dog walking from this time of year onwards, my walks are nearly all hour plus walks in rain, the rain does stop beading and soaks into the jacket it hasnt come through the hood or back of the jacket yet but the cuffs and sleeves really soak it up and make it uncomfortable to wear, the jacket also takes a while to dry out where as the water just beads off my marine outer jacket, the zip on the torrent can also be a bit fiddly in use

I have the torrent and find it adequately warm down to 0 but i wish I'd gone for the extreme although this is probably a metabolic related issue, i do love the cut and fit of the torrent though and it seems excellent so far in a downpour, i also have a fortis tundra that i ordered in large same as the torrent but its overall a much larger jacket with substantially more insulation but it make me look like a little fat pudding so i always opt for the torrent

Ordered one of Torrent WGTE Jackets which arrived today but can't even try it on because the main zip is faulty and won't undo, shame looks a lovely jacket but not sure if it's worth ordering another now anyone else had problems with these.

It hasn't caught on the lining inside has it,my zip can sometimes be a pain to zip up

I bought one earlier in the year and in February was out all day lure fishing, it kept me warm on the move and when casting but I wouldn't want to rely on it for warmth when motionless.

I love my SJ9 but need a new jacket as the zips gone.
Is the Extreme significantly warmer than the SJ9? Does anyone know?
How do Tundras compare to the Extreme? Both are similarly priced but Id of thought Snugpac stuff to actually be reliable.

When I touch the fabric of the Tundra, I feel like it's softer and less durable when compared with the Torrent (Extreme). Warmth wise they are about the same I think, if I go by thickness of insulation only.

I've no idea on comparison on the sj9 but I've had a torrent extreme for 3 or 4 year's now and I've never been cold in it. I live in Scotland and have used it right through winter without issue. If getting active at all I just go down to a t shirt or base layer below it and zip down the underarm vents.
I believe from memory snugpack describe it as rated to -17⁰c.

Tundra wise I have the salopettes but not the jacket. In terms of quality the Tundra are better than I expected. As good as the Snugpak salopettes for sure.
