He has made a massive contribution to carp fishing.
One massive one that some peoples memories are not short enough to forget the "Nash runway" what was that all about
closely followed by the "candle warmer"
Though the biggest one might be a French commercial fishery venture "naughty Nashy"

Container rates have come down massively since their peak couple of years ago.
Ive still got a Nash overwrap for a 50in brolly that i brought back in 1995, albeit hasnt been used for years but it's still good to go.
Pretty much everything i have to replace now is no where near as good as what they produced in the 90's from any manufacturer. Perhaps apart from quality of carbon.
Gear now seems to have a very limited shelf life.

Thing is America can produce quality to compete with China and we're starting to under Bush . A lot of these companies answer to share holder who won't allow the initial cost of bringing manufacturing back .

I totally agree nash has had some great ideas the titan the oval ect I remember him starting up and then Nash gear was good mind you there was very little choice at that time
But people confuse good ideas with good quality
I agree now it's Chinese overpriced poor quality gear imo

If you wrote down a list of what he was responsible for you would be surprised. Unfortunately some people don't know their history or have short memories.

His attitude to people has appalled me from what I've seen, (I saw him attempting to catch Dippy from the Gipping, I was walking the stretch regularly myself), customer service that stunk, some dodgy practices around Lac de Cavagnac, that got him in trouble in France, and the takeover of Catchum.
Some of his tackle inventions may be positive, but some of the quality of manufacture was not.
There are enough reasons to see me try to boycott buying his products personally.

Cavagnac, the dodgy practices that Carpstar also referenced were taking fish from other waters and putting them in Cavagnac.
That is common knowledge, the French Carp Fishing federation put the meeting with Kevin Nash admitting the fish thefts on YouTube.
When he was chasing Dippy on the river, he told a young kid who asked how he was doing, and I mean young, around 11 or 12, to 'f'off, complete with the expletive.

AND TRUST ME IT STILL HAPPENDS TODAY big long river commons get sold people fishing lakes close to roads get asked by locals you catch big carp phone me I come collect give you 2 to 300 euro's cash money

and a lot of chinese whispers get spouted about unless its on video it could easily be total exaggerated bollox
and even if it was true EVERYONE is entitled to have a bad day and tell someone to **** off hardly the crime of the century FFS

fair enough Nick I wasnt aware of this and I certainly believe what you said so it is a fact
and TBH I am very shocked Im not a mate of Kevins and only spoken to him twice in my life but he just does not come across as that kinda guy ? I have only ever heard friends talking about him that know him and I have often read about how helpful he is to everyone ?
but then as I have said while not at all nice by any stretch of the imagination
its hardly the crime of the century we dont know if he had a migraine ? feeling ill j? ust wanted to be left alone ? maybe previously had a lot of punishers ?

Sadly it's true.
It was when I was spending a lot of time chasing carp in the River Gipping, walking between Sproughton and Yarmouth Road in Ipswich almost every day.
I never got my hands on Dippy, but I did have other carp up to 28lb, cracking fish, on a 3hour trip.
The local kids never used to be a problem, the council bailiff wouldn't let them cause any grief!
Not the same down there now.

I get the impression that he has mellowed age, judging by the quite entertaining podcasts that he has done in recent years. Back in the day, I know that he had a reputation for being very moody, and could be as nice as pie one day and then a real arse the next....I think I was probably the same!
