An initial cost of less than 50p per person.
The fact that it is generating £2b for the economy seems lost on some folk.
As for her being German well, all Anglo-Saxons have German heritage.

Generating 2bn.... or put another way, a load of people buy crap plastic flags and union jack hats whilst expanding the profits of the beer industry....
I don't dislike the Queen as a person. Saw her once when she came to launch HMS invincible. She smiled and waved at us. I'm not anti royal either. Probably wouldn't invite Andrew round though. Met Edward (remember him?) once. Nice enough. Fergie's kids books are good. They didn't choose where they were born just like we didn't.
28 million quid could provide a big boost for the food banks but nobody wants to celebrate that.
All the blokes in red jackets and big hats prancing about on horses while winged death flies over? It's just our version of Kim Jong Un and his bouncing soldiers and tanks isn't it? All very expensive and pointless showing off.
As for two days off, it's during half term so no change for me. Apart from the face painting and bouncy castle on the field out back today...

Sadly investing 28m in food banks wouldn't bring a return.
As for crap plastic flags and hats, they probably came from the same outlets that the scousers got their red ones from that they littered Paris with when they spat their dummies out.

The royals wouldn't be seen dead fishing for mud pigs in swill holes.
Only to be found on the most expensive salmon beats in Scotland with a gillie, and full entourage to provide the back up required.

I pulled a rake through a swim on a local park lake a couple of times over the last 2 weeks on the qt after a couple of decent tench. Ended up having a darts match so couldn't get there til 5 Friday morning, rough as a bears arse. Bivvy on the peg.
Royalty, privilege and it's various incarnations are anathema to me mate.
But Elizabeth has been exemplary in a job she wasn't in line for and I couldn't and wouldn't want to do
