It's a catapult, that's all it is, it's not some magical device where one wave of it and the fish are hanging themselves on some manky rig you've half heartedly luzzed in the edge with a moldy old chugnut on the end, is it? I think it's been about three years. I saw the big boss about eighteen months ago and he told us he was testing a version of it then and that was far from the start of it. As you rightly pointed out these things don't happen overnight, versions get tested, binned, started again, binned again then tweaked and tweaked and then finally put through their paces. And even then as we saw with the catapult right on the point of distribution they decided there was still another improvement that could be made to the pouches, so they delayed the launch. It's a costly and time consuming excerise, especially when it's not being done in the Far East.
The other consideration is not only that these aren't made for cheap in China, but that also the Jag production runs arent on the scale of say a korda or nash. So economies of scale means that their stuff is never gonna be Chinese tat cheap.
Some people like that kind of thing, others don't, just like every other product out there. I'm happy enough listening to an mp3, but I've got customers who devote whole rooms of their houses just to their hi fi stuff. Which I don't get at all.
Like I said in another post. It's very unlikely anyone is gonna go out and buy every elastic and every pouch. ABS have about twenty baits on their new website. So does that mean that ABS users are gonna buy 5k of every product they sell? It's about choices. There's lots of manufacturers importing stuff from China. Ridgemonkey regularly gets an absolute slating on here for doing it. Jag make their stuff in the UK and also get an absolute slating for doing that. Keith's stuff is handmade in the uk, I don't know his set up but I bet if he decided to up his production to JAG levels then his prices would also need an increase. I guess a lot of people would be slagging him off as well then.

So someone like Chris Brown can knock out two 8" banksticks for £23.50 yet JAG want £27 for one 7" stick, granted, Chris's ones aren't turned out all fancy looking whereas JAG's are, yet I'm sure Chris is selling to a vastly small client in number. Seems to me that the prices JAG are selling their gear for is the aspirational value and from what I've seen, form over function.
More than likely the reason Keith doesn't get slated is because his stuff is function over form to a degree and won't fall to bits and last year's and years, not so I'd have said about JAG's tatt.
