Using my Nash pole today extended to 20 sections (far bank snag tree), went out fine first thing scoop of crumb, pellet and rig perfectly dropped on the edge of the tree. Couple of hours later locked up rod gave a series of bleeps that I struck to find nothing on the end. Reeled in to redo rod with pole, breeze had got up but shipping out still ‘manageable, nearly there when right hand rod fishing open water burst into life! Dropped pole and played fish during the fight the said pole was ‘snaking' uncontrollably on the surface caught by the stiffening wind. Luckily I landed a nice scaley mirror but what a 2 and 8 with the pole! Note winds will limit distance and accuracy of your baiting pole if you going across open water

That's true but I can have fun trying and on the odd occasion when I do, man that feels good.
Hope baiting poles don't get banned due to the excesses of a minority fishing dangerously in inappropriate spots using ridiculously long poles to overcome bait boat bans. Said bans being due to the same dangerous practices.

I've used a baiting pole for around the last 10 years , and with out a doubt its caught me a lot of bonus fish,
I've never used it in open water though, as I've never seen the benefit of that, preferring to use it in areas where you just can't cast like under over hanging trees or bushes.
When I first started using one I never saw anyone else with one on my water, this made it even more deadly as there were areas the fish felt safe to be in that no one else fished.
In my opinion some waters are perfect to use a pole on, and it can be deadly, and others it is of limited benefit.

It's funny how quickly the bird life has worked it out, the swans on one of my lakes only drift over once there are a few sections out, sometimes they wait, if it's too deep they just eat it out the spoon as it's going out, hilarious 😆

just a couple of newbie baiting pole questions, I'm planning on fishing 3oz inline leads on a leadfree leader,semi stiff hooklink with a balanced hookbait, when you guys drop the rig/bait do you drop it on a slack line? do you worry about it tangling on the leader on the way down?? obviously if I tighten up to fel the drop I'm not going to be fishing over my bait depending on depth.
do you pva foam the hook and bait ?

Wouldn't worry. The numbers say 2.8ins dropback on a tight line fishing in 6ft of water at 25yds. Can't argue with Pythagoras although I'm sure there are some on here who will try.

Id bet this is the exact scenario that led pythagoras to his theorem, how many feet short should I spod at 80 wraps lol
But he would have been wrong as the line doesn't move through the water in a straight line, the drop back will be a lot more

You are absolutely right, it describes the arc of a circle which Pythagoras was well aware of.
Have seen the Rob Hughes vid. Very poor and innacurate science.
Not arguing out something that has been proved and used for thousands of years. Go your own way and do your own thing. As a clue you need to know range and depth.
