You can love the past time and still be critical of what it has become. He's been doing it for far longer than many of the "instakids" that has pretty much been Kordas market, a subject that he seemed to hold back on. I believe he wanted to delve further into the social media aspect but decided against it. I find it absolutely boring looking at another fish, from another pond, with no context to the capture. It's just a bunch of hashtags to appease your fake consultancy. Totally agree with his "anglers" comment too. Give a lot of these "instakids" a 14ft waggler rod, a centrepin, and tell them to catch a Dace and they'll look at you like you have four heads.
As for owning items and using them, but being against them, I think we have all used items in the past which would rather not, and he hits the nail on the head when it comes to barbless hooks, cradles & retainers. I would rather use barbed, beanie mats and sacks, but if rules dictate I cannot use them then I won't. There are certain rules I will go against though if I believe they are complete ill educated ******** that serve no purpose, especially when it comes to Pike Fishing.
The thing is, the things he are saying has been echoed on here for years, yet when it is said out in the open on a platform created by a company which bred many things that we hate, he is character assassinated. Many of us have over indulged on the bank, in warehouses and pubs, yet you aren't allowed to mention it on a podcast? It's not right in todays eyes, but we look up to those who moved fish, smoked the Dutch Bensons and took the piss.
If people want ANOTHER soulless podcast of "I went here, I caught that" then buy the dying print media, because there is plenty of that in those mags.

Well I enjoyed that a lot more than I thought I would. He's a miserable f@@ker who pretty much hates the world and everyone in it, so I have a lot of common ground with him.
I do think his angle on him being a victim of the cons incident is a bit wide of the mark though. If the rules state that you can't discuss fishing/stock/club business etc and you publish an article naming swims etc then to be honest I'm not surprised he got banned for it. By then poaching the water and plastering it all over big carp magazine in the close season, he wasn't being clever and giving the committee a F@@k you like he said, he was giving a F@@k you to all the members, a lot of them who had probably been quite decent to him over the years, when he was a kid on there and skint and being given hot drinks and bait etc. But he was young then and we all do daft things. It's interesting now that the boots on the other foot that he's complaining that his little bits of fishing heaven are being spoiled by other people knowing about them, but he wasn't quiet so worried about doing it to other people.

Making a big deal of his entry, didn't want to do the podcast, but here I am

Making such a big deal about how spiritual he is while showing what a foulmouthed, arrogant, law breaking, drug abusing man he really is!
To be honest I can never understand how people think it's ok to f and blind when being invited into someones home, i'm sure they wouldn't do it if they physically entered someones home for the first time, so why do it when they are making a broadcast/podcast/video, just shows a lack of manners in my view.

I thought it was quite entertaining, but I know Nick so wasn't expecting any PC stuff. The comment about vass-wearing tattooed bearded idiots that he and Tel commented about made me laugh as I'm sure I know who he's mainly talking about. He's got tons of great stories which would make people laugh, there was an incident in the Alps that he almost cut his hand off with a bowsaw and had to get back to England sharpish.
I suspect anyone here who fishes either the low stock wild places or goes adventuring abroad would get on like a house on fire with him, he's a nice guy.

Ive never really had much to say about him and as the podcast started i thought he was going to be a nightmare and that if probably turn it off pretty quickly. But, he had me laughing quite a few times! The surface fishing cheating argument was hilarious 🤣

Far from it, but when it's stuffed down my earphones every sentence, it's a bit hard to ignore
I just fail to see the benefit of broadcasting my bad habits, law breaking etc to the world through a podcast concerning carp fishing.

After reading this page I thought I'd give it a listen.
An hour in it seems uncontroversial. A bit grumpy, a bit sweary, but basically fair enough.
Mind you, I'm his age and when he was a kid fishing in the Colne Valley, I was learning to fish in the Darent Valley so maybe we had the same journey into carp angling of being surrounded by great Anglers who didn't want to be bothered by kids or hang around fools?
Do I envy him, no. Is he a role model, no. Have I been as free spirited (or selfish) as him, no. But that doesn't stop me enjoying his podcast or agreeing with much of what he says.
