A shortcut to fame in angling would be get a girlfriend like Claudia dargia, bench press Jim Shelly live on film. Get a leg and a wing from Mark pitchers and Harry carrington or maybe spend a week in a bath tub full of wonderberry goo.

People can fish for whatever they like for me, there's one thing, and one thing of late that really pisses me off. A lot of people want to be an authority on the pastime, forcing their drivel down other people's throats, only one way and that's mine and the underlying motive is self importance 
Theres only ONE person who can tell you how to fish and that's the angler himself. Take what you want from this magnificent pastime and leave only footprints would be my advise. It's a very unique and personal experience and preference. The rest can go and **** themselves

Because I'm a selfless kind of chap. For the good of the forum, I'm prepared to experiment with having Claudia as my girlfriend. Purely as an experiment to see whether I become famous. I'm not convinced but I will let you know how I get on.

I've mentioned it before but I'm sad to have witnessed the demise of “thank you my love” over the past few years. It's a loss to our hobby.

You know what snapper - I'm going to put my wise head on for a moment and offer some (what I believe to be) good advice....
I teach Drama and Performing Arts to students after being employed in that world for a good long time - have done in various ways for ages - and for those who are considering it as a career I pose them this question. 'Do you want to act, or, do you want to be 'an actor'?'
Basically - those with the real passion for acting / performing because they love it / want to get better at it / want to develop their skills etc. are the ones I tell to pursue it. Those who want to be famous and wealthy from it without recognising the work involved, I tell them to find another avenue.
Be the best angler you can be. Get out there (when it's safe again) and hone your craft and skills. Learn from the best around you and from your own mistakes and successes. If 'fame' in the angling world then follows, you'll be respected as well which is worth far more than just being the flash in the pan name...

I think the best anglers are the ones who struggle to overcome a problem. Find their own way around the difficulties and go on to catch fish. Be they big or small it's the finding ways to catch them that separates the ones who give up after a couple of blanks and those who persist until they acheive their goal. Personal satisfaction for me. I dont care if nobody else knows what i catch. It's what i have to do to acheive my goal that matters to me.
