I keep seeing comments about the vids. That is a perception thing. The book should be taken at face value. I agree that having seen the films the read is less exciting, but the book is no less brilliant for it imo.
Green gate is a great, great read but not as good as through the mist imo.
Edit: as for the print quality, that has no relevance to the read itself. If that ruins it for you, you're not reading it properly imo. It's the story itself that should be rated.

Haven't seen this book yet but plenty of Still Searching had been covered in the angling press prior to it's release, times have moved on with internet content and videos, and also with people's memories.

I'm halfway through after finally getting mine delivered after Xmas. I'm really liking it, have skipped the Thames chapter though as there were obviously two videos about that and didn't think much more could be said about it

you might be suprised,how many times do people say that a book is so much better than a film or a film didnt do the book justice.
I think the written word on emotions, feelings,disappointment, sadness and excitement can be captured so much better when a writer is writing and re living the moment in their head as it all comes back to them.
I agree that what esp put out was good,but its defintely wort reading about too...just incase

I agree that the print doesn't impact the read in terms of content, it just continues to irk me as it shouldn't have happened. I don't think the vids spoil the read as such as I agree that I have read many a book that is made into a film/TV show and the book is far superior as much gets missed on video

'he doesn't big himself up at all, just tells the story as he remembers it' - I think that memory is what left him a little bit while writing his third book. It just has that 'collected feel' to it in some chapters, much more than his first two books. Its like he was writing it while scanning through his old notes and slides (which he admits to do in the foreword btw). His first two books were much more lively and compelling imo. As far as bad printing is concerned I really couldn't care less though

If I was the author, and a potential customer, the new book after 13 years in the making, and 2 previous books being laid out and printed correctly, I would be well p*ssed off.

Agree, Terry should stop those books being sent out if he had any power to do so as company obviously doesnt care about their customers at all. Their care for customer in non existent.

enjoying the book, taking my time to digest each chapter tbh, as though its a treat to find 30 mins of quiet to read and enjoy. My slight gripe is the print quality and possibly the quality of paper as some pages have a slight 'rough' feel to them?

Of course the quality of the book matters. Would you pay £40 for a photocopied version with scanned photos. Jeez get a grip!!!
It's a very good book. Totally understand people's comments, but it's better than most books since Still Searching 🤣🤣🤣

Although I've got quite a carp book library I for one prefer to listen to the spoken word these days.
