I suppose a bench mark does help those with no experince of the rods though, but how to get a unbias bm..hmm.
I like a stiffer rod, always have since fishing snaggy waters and feeling under gunned with the rods I had, there's little in the way of control (for me) with a rod bent in 2. I have the 13' 3.25 Torrix, it's a lovely rod, my only critique is it feels a little heavy compared to my 3.5lb 12'6 Ballistas, though I haven't weighed them, it's a perception.
I wouldn't call the 3.25lb a players rod, I wouldn't call it a distance rod, for me it's a compromise between the 2 and that's why I like it. I also have 12' 1.25lb and 2lb, now they are lovely

I have the TE's after speaking with Terry before I purchased them, he said they added the extra 6" to help soften the tip and give a slightly softer action when playing a fish, but stiff have the back bone for casting.
When I first got them it did take me a while to get used to them and I did loose fish close into the margins.... I had to adapt the way I played fish in close and since then had no issues. They cast great just difficult with light leads at short distances to get eye in.

Have a look at the Cotswold Rods R1. Believe they are based on a Torrix. Superb rods and all I use now.

The Cotswold xx111 was based on the torrix blank , which Harrison later called the torrix sport. And had a plain carbon butt section. Lovely rods that were very different to the 3.25 torrix. And a much nicer rod to play fish on but could still send out a 3oz lead. Wish I hadn't moved mine on

What about the new rods by Kev Clayton and Chris Orme,they are called Code rods look very nice indeed

I have the R1's and they are not the same blank.
I went over to Cotswold Rods to try a Torrix in 3.25TC and ended up with a set of R1's as the Torrix was too soft for my requirements.

Had a pair in 2019 to try , horrid to play fish on , broom handles come to mind , maybe different now from then as kev wont put his name to *****.

I have the 3 1/4 Torrix which does the job well enough. My 2.5lb Torrix are lovely and light and have just enough power in the butt the stay in control of fish it their 30s.
Both my pairs are a few years old now and I love the 2.5s and wouldn't hesitate to get another set whereas Id look at harrisons newer range or alternatives and I'd Definately go to a rod builder such as Cotwold Rods and try a few before I shelled out again.
