As well as that, I read that the virus has an optimum temp. requirement of around 10°C and that science hopes that very warm summer temps. will reduce its survival.

They didn't want any delay to the spread if they did they would have brought the lock down in 2-3 weeks before they did, read up on Dominic Cummings and you will understand why. As to you other point they don't know if warmer weather effects the virus but what they do know is during this time is the rate of chest related problems drop but until then there will be many daily deaths.

I'm chewing at the bit now, but behaving myself.
A mate was telling me about a radio interview with a police commissioner on LBC I think he said it was. The police in West Midlands are not enforcing people not fishing or 'essential travel'. The PC said as long as people have a valid excuse to drive, even if that is to a country spot for their exercise, then they are allowing it, yet in Scotland it is no driving other than to shops or medical aid for the vulnerable.
Sounds like each police force is choosing different guidelines!
Personally, I can walk my dog around a couple of lakes and along the river. On the park lake, open access, I know anglers who bivvy up have been turfed off, yet a family fishing the day weren't.
The island lakes, I have wandered around, with a pocketful of dog biscuits to see if there are any carp left in there, although I know otters were about.
I've not seen any chub on the river either, even though I know the rivers don't open until 16th June, it is worth looking.
My local Voluntary bailiff is also walking the rivers.
Sadly, as I have pointed out earlier in the thread, with easily found figures available from Google, the NHS is regularly overwhelmed in flu season from October/November to March/April.
The warmer weather should also help reduce virus spread.

i don't think there's any evidence yet to suggest the virus doesn't spread in hot weather.
I know other viruses are adversely affected by heat but given that Iran (as an example of a hotter country) is estimated to have over 55000 cases and over 3000 deaths, I don't think we should be believing Trumps statement that it 'dies in April'...
Don't get me wrong, I'm hopeful as everyone is, but let's not state it as fact yet eh?
It is possible that some of the underlying conditions could be less serious in the summer and that will hopefully have a knock on effect. Fingers crossed...

We are all in this together. Dont you see. We cannot go fishing, no matter how safe it is or the canoeists will come out, the wild campers will come out, the four wheel drivers will come out...and we have lost.

It's a bit of a misconception that Iran is a very hot country it's sumners are hot but in winter it is bitterly cold. It suffers from the cold air streams coming from Russia. Also what most people don't realise is that Iran is quite mountainous, it's tallest mountains are higher than the Alps and it has lots of ski resorts. According to my weather app the temperature in Tehran was 14° today.

People are NOT ignoring the government advice and subsequent instruction. Most people are staying indoors. The media are very keen in showing people outdoors in parks within cities but these people are only a minute proportion of the population. Again; Stay at Home, Protect the NHS, Save Lives. You do not want to catch this virus nor watch members of your family die.

True, and importantly the NHS is less pressured in the spring and summer weather so can deal with virus patients more effectively
