I think you've misinterpreted the post.

Simon Crow has just posted a reel on Instagram say the twig is just a reinvention of a self hooking rig he published in a book he wrote in 1997. It was basically a short piece of pole elastic tensioned on a short piece of stiff rig tubing coming of the hook length swivel. Almost identical to the fellas version who went to Hamidi with the idea. Simon then went on to say he submitted this rig in an article to Tim Paisley at Carpworld. Who rejected it on the grounds that the Angling world didn't need this rig in it.

As has been mentioned a few times. There's nothing new in carp fishing..

Leadclips are much safer running. Don't buy into the BS.

Anyone else noticed that the filed patent claim is marked as "ceased" I presume this means that he has no claim on a self hooking mechanism as so many others have been published and are in the public domain from the last 60 years. I wonder if this means other companies e.g. in china will start copying this.. I hope to god not for the fishes sake!

People are digging him because of the tacky and irritating way in which he went about bringing it to market as well as the ethics of a 'self-hooking' rig component.

Crying on the internet over a plastic thing a fisherman can tie to his line for example.

It's not even self hooking. Just look at how it works, it takes more pressure to 'activate' the twig, than the amount of pressure it can apply. It's not self hooking.

All it does is make your hook length elasticated, but only after the fish is hooked.

So I was asking an older angler who has forgotten more than I'll ever know about it all and his take - from reading about it - was that it's a similar approach to a 'bungee rig'
