Why aren't they already rig checking though? That's what makes this whole thing seem like bandwagon jumping to me. I've never once had a rig checked anywhere I've fished, but I bet half the noddies on day tickets are fishing death rigs with lead clip tail rubbers rammed on so they'll never come off, amongst other rubbish.

I get that this thing is something else that could be abused, but there's plenty of everyday items out there now that nobody is even bothering to check.

As I've pointed out elsewhere, there have been multiple matches with 1,000lb+ of Carp caught in 5 hours recently. That's over 3lb of fish per minute - now are those carp being looked after? Of course not, they're being dragged out as fast as possible, hook out and thrown in a net to be weighed piled up on top of one another. Why is a small carp not as important s a big one? It's the fishing equivalent of battery hens, starving fish massively overstocked and crammed into mud puddles for ‘sport'.

That's where we should start looking if the sport gave a sh*t about fish care as a whole, but because they're 3-10lb stockies they're apparently not worth our time as ‘big' carp anglers.

Sharpened hook, 4oz+ lead, self-resetting rig like a Ronnie that gives you multiple chances if you've been done by a fish. Even with basic rigs, being woken up with a hooked fish is exactly what happens

If people are thinking of fish safety with the Magic Twig wait until the Chinese copy's start appearing there bound to be fish safe LOL

Difference is this item doesn't need to be "abused" to be potentially harmful to the fish. Use it exactly as the manufacturer recommends and you could still have a very good chance of damaging the fish.

To me this is nothing more than ali hamidi trying to inscribe his name into the carp fishing hall of fame with regards to pioneering the way people fish because of what he done,the anticipation building upto the unveiling of this product,the crying,the hype and when the masses looked at it and didn't like what they seen,whether that be on a moral ground or fish safety perspective he's had to come out of his corner swinging.....it wasn't meant to be like this,in hamidis world the magic twigg (what a awful name) was supposed to be a game changer like the hair rig,hnv boilies,carbon rods and dare I say it the spomb in recent years.

Not for me, but .... if we're so concerned for fish welfare, don't do it. Ali's not the only one who can be accused of hypocrisy. Korda sell barbed hooks, but, hey, guess what? Gigantica has a barbless rule. Fishing methods at rainbow lake? Snag fishing? Leadcore? Wandering away from rods.....
Methinks this is more about him than the product itself.
Just saying.....

dare I say it the spomb in recent years.

I was once told a story that a clever guy called Brian had designed and prototyped a new type of Spod that opened up when it made contact with the waters surface. Decided he would take his idea to a large tackle company, meet the product development guy call Ali and got told "That will never take off, waste of time"


Brian walked away and launched the the Spomb onto the market
