Braid - just don’t forget to put some backing on the braid will slip on the drum.

I'm happy with it as is, only for silvers and whatever else happens along.
Confident with the setup and Reflow, don't want anything that might upset a 30 year old match rod, one of those forever rods.👍

Yes agreed for silvers and chub.
Those old drennan rods had hardened chrome guides which should be fine for braid though always a risk so with that class of rod stick with reflow.

it has 2/3 leg SICs, bought way back when you got a top quality rod for £185
later/final versions had single leg SICs, 'improved action' , just cheap.

Should be ok . . .for general trotting on a pin I use white Fireline in 0.18 which is the equivalent dia of 4lb mono but with twice the breaking stain to accommodate any monsters that may turn up . . .peels off nicely, floats without sprays / grease etc, really easy to see and mend - hasn't damaged my Acolyte Plus yet!
