Helinox with adjustable legs ,rolls up on yer barrow ,and a lovely waterproof coated down,crash zipped sleeping bag ..would be great ..
Really we need someone from the ultralight ,and strong camping ,n bushcraft world to shake up the stagnant industry..
It'll happen though ,but not yet ,cos most innovation is from people who don't think or do research, it's all the same Avid ,Nash ,whychwood, etc all no thought process,just go to China n book in several thousand ,of the latest 'must have ' ...

.....yeah I just got there folding water bottles ,very clever ..
If they went meths ,integrated they could go ever lighter..
You can still be comfy ,whilst being fairly minimal ... but a barrow most likely will always be involved I bet ,...

Cot bed with tent and inner attached still under 5kg that is an awesome idea and bit of kit. Shame it does not have mud feet.

Yes,if you go on Kent Survival, Andy his name is does a trip where he is actually in the river doing a wild camp ,very good watch ..with exactly what you say
I try ,like a lot of others to look at all angles
Best I've come up with is a dpm army tarp / emergency stretcher..Avid RT light bedchair ,and a snugpak sleeping bag ,mosquito bag ,including compact water filter ..
So it was rucksack ,rod holdall ,bedchair ,tarp ,and sleeping bag including suitable roll up mat ,all proper easy for someone like me to walk across the fields over 2 miles to fish
My other minimal set ,was Carper speedflex bivvy ,quick to deploy ,rod holdall ,rucksack ,with bait food ,and waterfilter ,plus a air sucked down fortis sleeping bag and a duralight bedchair ..
Plus , stripped out barrow ,that system was great ,cept the bivvy a bit low ,but hey nothing is perfect ...

I would think a SIM would be more comfortable in warm weather than fleece covered memory foam, especially one with a low R rating?
You wouldn't sleep directly on the memory foam or it's cover on a Carp bed though..would you...well...it'd be ruddy hard to clean it if so, it's no a good idea if you do....lol
So are we saying you'd need a sim for summer and a sim for winter with varying R rating to suite...not a very cheap option.
I spend far more time on my bedchair than anyone, and I'll tell you sims don't breath, irrespective of R rating and even with varying tog duvets on top of them you still end up sweating on the contact area between you and the bed.
As a comparison the new Flatliner I've just spent 6 days on (5cm memory foam) no sweat and minor heat build up on contact point between body and bed compared to ELS & Sim.

In terms of breathability neither memory foam nor SIMs are that breathable - makes sense for SIMs as they are designed to insulate as well as to provide a level of comfort, usually when used directly on the ground. As you say though if the bedchair mattress is made of memory foam plus other materials then it may feel cooler although generally anything fleece covered feels warm and potentially sweaty in warmer weather - guess it varies alot on the individual

Most here have the Nash indulgence 5 season latest version.
Certainly way more comfortable than the AVID I had before. Yet still I improved the comfort with an extra mattress inside.
Still have the odd backache but much better than before with any other system.
Plus its not really 5 season.
I have to include a down-blanket - greatest and most comfortable solution ever - inside outside of the summer months.

I bought a Solar 3D Duradore wide sleep system last summer to replace my Avid Benchmark Lite as it sagged like hell and played havoc with my back. I can't comment for use in winter as I've not tried it yet but it's the comfiest bedchair I've have and a gamechanger for a good nights sleep, the sleep system seems quality.
Rather than create a new thread, I've a question about the Avid Benchmark Ultra X.
Does anyone know if you can fit a Fortis Techlite on it top and bottom?
