I use a Vango 50mm SIM under my Avid ultra system. It's sits under the memory foam mattress and on top of the supporting material. It's nice because you're not directly laying on the SIM, which felt a bit weird to me. I normally blow it up firm then lay on it and release some pressure to suit. Best bed I've had.

When I had a sleep system my mountain equipment helium 3.8 fitted,that was on a fox flatliter then on the duralite system

Forget a SIM - get some memory foam cut to size on eBay and zip it in under the sleeping bag. Cost about £50. By far the best solution for a sleep system. PM if you want more info.

That isn't possible on all sleep systems, the nash for example only have the top layer rather than a full fixed sleeping bag. So for those a SIM would be better id imagine?

Didn't know that about the Nash beds, having not had one.
However, doesn't rule a SIM out, it's rules the Nash bed out!

Ah but some people find the Nash beds the most comfortable! As we are all different so what's best for one isnt best for another. I'm on my second Nash one, the first one lasted me over 10 years which I think is brilliant really. I think the Nash would be ok with a SIM even though you'd be laying directly on it, I'm not sure a piece of memory foam would be too good to lay directly onto?

I agree, i have the trakker MF HDR and had to put a SIM on it to make it comfy, 50, 60, 70mm layers of memory foam are a gimmick on bedchairs, its no more comfy then a standard matress but adds a lot of extra weight.
I'm keeping the HDR as i love the sleeping bag and it will do for france trips and long winter nights, but bought a 6 leg RLX for the rest of the year which feels almost half the weight and just the same comfort wise if i chuck the SIM on it.

I'd say there wasn't much between some raw memory foam and an uncovered SIM in terms of comfort, both of which would suck, so yeah.....if you can't cover it (getting upholstered an extra faff) then my hack is ruled out on Nash beds! I have an aversion to Nash gear (Bushwhacker aside) so never paid much attention to how their sleep systems are put together.

Up until pretty recently I thought that's how all sleep systems were Tbh. To me the way most are with the bag part going underneath you aswell it seems like they are basically the same as a separate bed and bag, so pretty pointless to buy one as opposed to separates. It's the kind of "duvet" style of the Nash one that makes it comfortable to me
