+1 for the CFX, great rods. I've got the 12' 3.25's which are a great all rounder. I also used to have a set of the continentals which were lovely for distance fishing as they still had a reasonable playing action.

I've now sorted a set of rods via the classified ads. 3 x 12' Free Spirit eClass Gold 3.5lb

I appreciate the OP. is sorted, but I finally got to try out my MK3 Terry hearn distance rods today.
Sadly didn't get to play a fish, but using man maths (turns of handle returning the lead on my tournies) I think I was hitting around 150m with 12lb GR60 straight through. I'll probably never fish at those ranges but it was fun to really welly a 4oz lead for half an hour to warm up!
Hopefully, I'll get to play a fish on them next 😃

Hello mate, I got the 12'9 3.5tc 50mm distance ones.
Their advert says 3.25, so before I ordered I checked and they confirmed they were 3.5's because that's what I wanted. Might be worth double checking again before you hand over your hard earned.
The 50mm don't look like 50mm. They're proper eyes not like the current fad of really slim eyes raised away from the blank, if I didn't know it was a 50 to my eye I wouldn't have believed it. It just looks right on the rod.
Ive got a couple of mk2's that will become utility rods now and I had mk1's in the old days. These feel a little lighter in the hand but are more powerful so I'm guessing the action will be a bit stiffer when I play a fish.
I've dicked around with rods since I've got back into carping but for £150, I'm well chuffed with them. They're an improvement over previous editions but keep everything in line with their heritage and like the other versions look mint 👌

Is the writing on the blank a different colour between Mk1 and Mk2?
I have a set of 3 and a set of 4. Both sets being 12' 9" 3.25tc with the 40mm rings.
From memory (they were bought second-hand during my rod collecting/covid era!) I am sure I noticed they differed. It would be good to finally put that question to bed if somebody knows!

Im sure there Mk2 in the picture Karlos.
Mk1 came in 12.9ft in both 2.9oz and 3.4oz, they also didn't have classic printed on the blank

I think they're mk3's mate
From memory Mk2's actually said 'mk-2' on them and didn't say the ring size.
Again from (distant) memory Mk1's had italic writing on them

Yep I think you're right. The MK2 had MK2 written on them and had rounded collars. The MK1 had italic writing. The MK3 have flared collars.

I went and grabbed the rods earlier to check what colour the decals were on the set of 4.
What do I discover!? They had Mk-2 on the cloth rod bags and on the rod themselves!
So my photo in the previous post is of the set of 3.
Looking at the photo of the Mk-1's linked (which are very different looking) I guess the set of 3 with the gold writing are Mk-3
Took a pic of the Mk-2 alongside the Mk-3 just to get closure on the question

Just been looking at the rod section on that website. I'm surprised at the prices for rods from the 1990s.
They are going for much more than I expected. I thought they'd only worth about £30-£40 each.
There must be tons of these type of rods tucked away in peoples lofts and garages.

As someone already said, why do people want these rods when there is much better material being used to make modern rods. Personally I'd take the best available every time.
