I don't understand why a faded unhooking mat would be an issue? Leave most fabrics out in the sun and they will fade.

As long as its still waterproof. You don't want to be carrying around a sponge. I'd still use it. Having a sunbleached matt will give the impression you've been in this game a.long time and you no what your doing..

I'm sorry but that's just ridiculous, no one would use it 364 nights and then expect them to replace it. Got to be some common sense when throwing consumer rights about ffs.

I honestly don't think that will be the case beneath the top layer of fabric.
But if you're worried put it out in the garden and put the hose on it or pour some cold water over it to see what happens

The culprits probably UV but it could be heat. I have a Fox Frontier Euro wrap, stored the attic for a decade before I used it, put it on yellowed bloody stripe where it'd faced the chimney pipe 
I've also had yellowed bivvies like a lot of us prob have too.
I've got the green version of yours, been unused 3 years, no colour fade, so not age related imo.
I think the shop should sort it for you, dreadful passing the buck to TA imo.
I would expect it not to fade. I have a Nash poly mat, must be 15 years old, probably spent months in French 40deg heat never mind weekly use here, slightly faded but not much.

It might surprise you but they didn't ask a plasterer to help write the consumer rights act, I was just pointing out that what you, or I think about an item being used for 364 days/nights is irrelevant, they're the rules. Perhaps companies are banking on items not being used regularly?

But the consumer rights act doesn't come into play if you are trying to return something because you think something might happen. When it actually isn't waterproof, there might be a case.
Did the product state that the cover won't fade in sunlight, and that the material is 100% waterproof, as opposed to water resistant though? If not, just because it's assumed that it is doesn't come into it.
And as someone else said - the contract is with the shop, not the manufacturer.

You might get lucky and they'll swap it - but I'd be surprised.

I'm the last 1 who knows about this sort of stuff but if they have a social media page get yourself on there and comment about it. My sister who's a lot more savvy that me says most companies will reply as it's not worth the bad press, she doesn't bother with directly e-mailing them anymore, apparently that's the way to get things sorted nowadays!

Same as me mate, and tbh I don't feel I'm missing out.
