The whole video thing hasn't 'gone' per say, it's just the inability to provide meaningful content without having to please the corporate side of things. Why pay for it when there is far better content for nothing on youtube by people who do it out of love rather than financial gain?
There is more scope to video based content, but it's just stale. Podcasts can have longevity because it's story based and you can listen almost anywhere. It's just two people talking, and as a result it feels "raw" and cannot be fluffed up.
Carpology for example, it's whole video set up is merely paid-for reviews. Sticky and Thinking Anglers on the other hand have it 100% spot on as it triggers feelings of nostalgia and inspiration.
This isn't 2002. You cannot get away with just advertorials on how to tie a solid PVA bag anymore. As much as they blame the cost of paper and advertising for prints' demise, the reality is the vast majority (on here anyway) want substance. We are mostly set in our ways, we know what we like and we know what works. If Carpology want to target the market who change their luggage twice a year, crack on. However it won't last. They have adapted their magazine content to survive, so hopefully they go down the same route as TA or Sticky, because they certainly have the potential to create similar content.

Despite having emails saying I've cancelled, for the second time Cyp still tried to take payment - luckily my card no. has changed so it bounced. I only joined in the first place for an offer.
I've watched probably 20 vids in there in the last 6 months. They all get a bit samey after that.

I subscribe the Dave Lane's patreon. Nowadays it's full on fishing vlogs which I personally find very enjoyable. In fact, the only carp related media I bother watching is his patreon and anything ESP does with Terry Hearn. I would recommend paying £6 for a months access and seeing what you think of it. You've probably paid more than that for a pint.

They aren't standing orders tho, they are recurring payments on a debit card. Cant cancel with bank.

This isn't accurate. You can cancel any direct debit with the bank that issued the card. You just need to contact them.

Recurring payments just use your card details - card number, expiry and CVV. Hard to stop as they are effectively just taking a payment on a card and you've supplied them the details, the bank has no contact with them. If you look in your DD list with the bank, Cypography doesn't show.
