Once the research and development has been covered I would've thought the actual cost of producing an alarm would amount to much.
My guess and it's only a guess is that by bypassing the tackle shops this scheme is a very good earner so much so, they can simply afford to destroy and bin the old kit.

I understand some early model Delkims from around 1994/5 are still around and working, but parts for any failures needing repair are not. I think it was around 5 or 6 years ago (maybe more) they stopped guaranteeing repairs on older out of warranty alarms.
While the chances of a fault due to parts wearing out (electronically) are low, some will happen, so taking old models out of use for replacement to loyal customers makes sense.
Even the TXi's had issues when radio frequencies were changed on newer versions, so a mix of batches was difficult.

Spot on that is..
I was looking for a fourth Txi plus ,as a spare to my other much loved three ,Txi..
When it turned up ,brandnew ,it wouldn't pair with the original reciever,and meant I had to send the whole lot to Delkim to make them 'marry' up..

I got the original email last Friday which had a personal greeting using my first name.
Just had another one today which was a general ‘Dear Angler' type one.
They are obviously pushing hard on this deal and as I said previously must have quite an extensive database, first targeting individuals and then a general scattergun approach.

As I said earlier it must be a good earner for them, they knock £50 off and sell direct to the public so cutting out the middle men and tackle shops mark ups.
The old units will be destroyed to keep them out of circulation.

My mate has the original TXI's, they must be 25 years old easy. I personally believe that there's still loads of original TXI's and Pluses still about doing the business which is why they are not upgrading. Basically the early Delks are like VW Beetles they have been about for ages and Delkim are generally speaking, probably a victim of their own success for making a product that lasts.

I have an original set of txi's and rx2004 but have upgraded to the txid's about a year ago .I had intended to sell my original txi's after about a year of using the new ones just to make sure they were reliable . Both sets have been faultless but I can't bring myself to sell the older ones as I think i'd regret it . I think you'd probably get more selling second hand .

I agree, and with people selling Delks that in some cases are over ten years old you can understand why they want to thin out that second hand stock as its probably depressing their sales of new D's.
I had a look at that email as I got it and they are giving you £50 a head from what I can see in part ex against a new set of three for £550. You'd probably get more than this on marketplace or flea bay for a reasonable set.

I was actually talking to a mate on the lake this week and like me he's got the new Delkims, but prefers his older TXi's.
In his case it is the tones work better for him.
My ST's I still own, although they have been moved permanently into my pike gear so I'm not swapping kit around between the 2.
I can't comment on battery life between old and new alarms, although the Delkim receiver has had a battery change after 6months, about the same time as the Att receiver I had on the ST's.

The update is a failure.. The new features are a failure.. the new D model is a failure.
So.. Delkim will try to seduce you with 'special' offer price reductions as they are losing sales...
Until they admit they have messed up and update them to make them user friendly and usable I will not even consider getting another set...
