Different sure but the material of the bag and the roll is basically the same right, it's just a different mode of sealing the plastic sheeting - heat sealing v a mechanical valve - the issue I'm having is that the scent is coming through the material not the seal.
Sounds as if I need something with solid walls.

And if all else fails maybe some vinegar or coffee in the vicinity to neutralize the smell. Worked for me and too many bottles of flavor in a closet.

NO NO NO !!! nothing remotely like it !!!
its clear your not grasping what people are advising you you seem to have it in your head the only difference is the suction the reality is nothing could be further from the truth
the rolls or pre made bags that are used in a Vacuum Sealer is like plastic bags on steroids sooo much thicker
as I told you they can be used in BOILING WATER to cook or reheat food thats been sealed try that in the silly so called sealers bags your talking about
in fact if you were stupid enough to try you bags in the machine it would probably just melt them rather than a seal
not being rude but they are not worth a toss and not worth wasting money on IMO
if anyone reading this is thinking of buying A VACUUM SEALER ?

1..buy one that does wet and dry
2. the higher the power (wattage ) the better it will perform
3..a Built-in Cutter & Roll Bag Storage is so handy (I would not buy one without out it personally)

As Gerry has stated (in his own unique way
) they are different materials.
I use the clothes ones (mechanical valve and pump) for clothes and the food ones (heat sealing) for my boilies.
I wouldn't use the mechanical valved bags for food and vice versa.

if anyone already has a Vacuum sealer and wants some ready made SMALL bags for bait or anything I have tried over many years lots of different makes

Probably this one built in roll cutter does wet and dry and storage jars etc good specs cheap too
(( there is a newer version cheaper for a reason they took off the roll cutter

What do you like about them? I was just going to buy a couple of different size rolls as assumed they was all the same kinda thing

top quality and really handy size great value for money
and instead of having to make a cut then 2 seals on every bag like you have to do with a roll its just one seal and done if you got 10kg of bait to do the time saving is massive
and its good to have a quick ready made bag as an alternative to the rolls I use both all the time depending on if its grub for freezing then reheating on the bank or whatever
