Ages, there solid.
Even smashing it with a hammer takes some effort.

I'm still baffled about why you do this? Carrying around a 2kg block of salt in your bucket instead of just adding salt to the particle?

Interesting talk on the adition of Salt on latest Carp Anglers podcast if anyone's interested.

I prepare my particles on the allotment in large buckets. I just pour the cooked particles into the bucket with the block and I can leave it. No need to stir it around for ages. Whenever I have left bags of salt in the shed they have taken on moisture, even stored in buckets and have even been eaten by mice. It's just an experiment to see if they store better and are easier to use.
Okay?

Why not just use salt in its granular form ? You'd be getting very little benefit using a lick in the way you say.
Salt draws in/out damp so not surprised at what you say, should be OK in factory sealed bags though

John Baker mentioned salt in a you tube vid - I don't think he agrees with practice!
