13ft Armalites were Century's original distance rods,how times change.
Century FBS are their players rods now.
OP, you're looking for a 'progressive action' in the current vernacular, what was called a compound taper. Look for something with overfit joints. Harrison range are that.

I assume you mean an overfit joint? A spigot joint is something different.
The Harrison rods that I have owned have had overfit joints. The few Century rods I've had have been spigot jointed

Can only vouch for the Harrison Acurix, absolutely love mine in 3lb tc, I'm sure the 2.75's would be even more of a dream to play fish in on 
I've only ever needed to cast 90 yards with them, and done this with plenty of room spare for more.

Yes i agree the baby ballistas are fantastic fish playing rods but i know alot of people that cant cast 100yds with them.

Nick Buss X Lite 12ft 2.75tc. Wonderful rods. I have a set of 3.25 S which are a better all round rod, but the 2.75 are bliss to play fish on, especially on braid.
Century NG... yuk. Had some 3.5tc of those. Blooming awful rods in every way. I suspect the lighter versions must have been better but the 3.5tc were far too soft.

If you don't want a 'stiff rod' just buy a lower test curve?
I don't get it when people say a 'Rod is too stiff'
If you compare a through action rod (players rod) to a fast taper rod (casting rod), both same Test Curve, the former will feel stiffer.

The two best players rods ive owned are the free spirit es which are superb and now currently have 2.5 century stealth graphenes which are also superb, the action on them is an absolute dream to play fish on and they will still wack a 2.5oz lead well over 100 yards.

My Nick Buss X Lites S are still my favourite rod to play fish on, wish I had a set of 3
Currently using Century SP SU, I can cast a mile but nowhere near as pleasurable to play fish on

Agree. Just had my X-Lite S' rebuilt. They are beautiful to use and I can't let go of them.
