Just slice bits off until you have the buoyancy you want, they will be fine.

I promise you dont know.

I'll tell you why you dont know, you dont know because you know nothing about the sales of Mainline, Nash, Sticky, Essential etc and many many others.

You like to think you do and like to make out you know everything but you just dont.

Drill the bottom and add a small amount of putty or small split shot to balance it out

with putty you can keep tweaking to get it where you want in terms of buoyancy

I always thought wafters were made for those of us who used critically balanced baits to make life easier. The idea being that wary carp feeding cautiously would suck a balanced bait in further and get nailed. Not suitable for use in a shoal situation where multiple fish are moving around and throwing baits about due to water movement.. On the other hand some fish may find it easier to displace food from the floor and eat it as it wafts back down. We all have theories but observation is key. Otherwise it's a best guess scenario. As usual.

I love a wafter. For me they started back in the day when you would just counteract the hook weight to ensure they were the same buoyancy at the rest of them.

I still have that thinking but also think they massively improve rig mechanics and presentation. When margin fishing against islands, I'd rather I come to rest on a bit of chod / twig than sink under it or present an inch on top of it. I create all my wafters but using a topper, but I use them in a matched way not as a bright colour.

I can't remember the last time I fished just one out of the bag alone, I believe my way gives you best of both worlds, an identical hook bait with some help for a soft and natural landing

I don't usually chip in when there is p*ssing contests but sometimes it is often necessary when someone is getting unwarranted flack in my opinion. I have just had a quick read of this thread and would have to agree with Mozzi regarding wafter sales. I thought i would have a quick look at the actual stats on our own website and make an informed comment if anybody is interested in some facts for a change.

In the year to date, as stand alone products added to the cart, we have sold around 40% more wafters than pop ups. This doesn't include the bulk deal sales, of which we sell thousands a year, that often include two hook baits in that deal. It also doesn't include trade or phone sales. It would be safe to presume i guess that this trend would mirror through the other large companies in the trade. Food for thought anyway.

Well I know quite a bit about a few companies but not all, but when all the big boys bar 1 that I know of sell more wafters than pop ups it tells you there is a trend.

I really don't understand why you target me so much.

I've not spoken to Manoel at essential, but have a pretty good idea of the hookbait sales of two of those companies 😉

Which is strange if the general consensus is that everyone and his dog uses a Ronnie Rig?
