If you buy second hand you expect the warranty to be transferred to you...?
If someone buys as a gift the 'contract' is with retailer and buyer.

I can never understand Carp Anglers angle on this, if you bought a Sony TV from Curry's and it went faulty would you contact Sony directly or take it back to Currys (I.e. the retailer)?
This comes up on this forum time after time and peoples nose is always put out of joint by it, it's not unreasonable for the manufacturer to say take it back to where you purchased the item.
As for 2nd hand items, that part of the risk of buying anything used, there isn't a warranty once the original purchaser moves the item on.

I too have been using fox alarms for 30+ years, only ever had one issue with one where the batteries would drain when switched off. Just took the batteries out after packing up.

Power pack in warranty bought from outlaw pro - box serial numbers etc. but tough luck as you need to send back to retailer.
Or delkim type service - always repair their products even if it's your fault and no I don't mind paying.
Apple will repair or replace items no matter where purchased again sometimes for a price but proper service.

If you buy something over 100£ then use a credit card. you are covered with better back up from the credit card company as they are jointly liable even if the company goes out of business.
Just pay it off the same day so you don't get any interest charges.

I believe once a company gets taken over thats it as its not the new owners fault as they had nothing to do with the sale.

Surely if that's the case, and you can prove purchase, Fox have a obligation to sort it out, it's not the buyers fault OP were taken over.

What I'd do.
I'd contact fox they'll likely repair or replace
- ask them for a price
And same for a third party repairer
Yes warranty's are usually void as you can't speak for the life it's had with the previous owner, it may have been dropped etc

So a little update on ReX
After his last breath a few weeks ago, I took him upstairs in the safe and warm - hoping that a couple of days of snugness and love would be enough. I removed both his left and right AAs n the hope his condition would improve, although despite repeated attempts it seemed all was lost.
I contacted the private medical practitioner Dal, who has performed life saving surgery before and was willing to try and give ReX another chance to live again, it felt a bit unfair, spending all this money on him, knowing his two brothers would also likely suffer in future - but when you have little ones, no cost is too much. Preparing to send ReX away I glanced at his motionless corpse yesterday and flicked his switch, like I did when he was a new born, his eyes lite up and he gave out a chirp - then another and another. Two weeks nestling on top of the drawers was all he needed. I'm no doctor by I think it was fluid on his brain.
I will keep him indoors for a few days and hope to venture out when the weather dries up - I feel like I've really let him down, taking him out in the nasty winter conditions and always wrapping him up in his jacket when we come home, it was too much for the little thing. Whilst I will always love them, Dee El and Kim are as always happy to accompany me, even in a lite drizzle- and if ever they do suffer the manufacturer's private health care means I don't have to worry too much.

Yes mate - I had exactly the same issue. I sent it back to AD, they replaced it and then 3 months later they randomly sent me another replacement so I now hav a spare
