Just about every sizeable club in Essex has night tickets for at least some of its waters. I know of one that won't even tell the members how many night tickets are available for each water.

At least yours have some sensible rules just joined one with a max lead size of 1oz baiting by hand only and max 1kg of bait per session

I haven't got an issue with doing stuff like that, and in a perfect world that's what I'd do, but, there will also be plenty of others who haven't got night tickets who will be in the same boat doing exactly the same as me

this thread reminds me of a conversation i had with a mate, he made an observation that there are some people in life who just want an outlet for their tittle tattle so they can feel important, he remarked that children's football teams and fishing clubs were the worst places to find these people. Instead of having a common set of rules for all they introduce new ones to stop things they don't agree with, stupid bait limits, stupid lead limits, stupid night permits, you name it, the tittle tattle mob in charge of your club will think of it.
i have to say my mate was absolutely spot on

This is why I fish local canals free and miles and miles of peace & quiet no knobheads to ruin your fishing or waiting for you to move out of a swim so they can jump in,over inflated prices to fish or even waiting lists that you may never get in to,plus you never know what's in a long stretch of a canal it's not all about catching big fish or loads of fish

Clubs were the life blood of angling for many years and I have been a member of a couple over the years. They provide the working man with decent fishing opportunities for a decent price, long live clubs
Taking a step forward to this ****ty era where every man and his dog s trying to make a killing, they have to look after, and protect their waters before some other greedy **** try's to buy it and stock it with a 1000 **** carp for £24 for 24 hours
I am all for a syndicate type ticket or another premium on top of the standard price for carp waters and nights. Carp anglers take up more water (3 x rods) and by having a syndicate type system they can control the mongs. A club I used to be a member of got destroyed over a few years by mongs, another one got threatened several times to have the water taken off them due to “anglers” behaviours, again, the mongs, ****ting everywhere and leaving rubbish, ****s
Clubs need to up their games and change with the times to survive. Match fishing is not so popular nowadays, it's carp and camping, oh, and mongs who have no respect for **** all sadly

Yes I believe the reason was a drunken argument that got out of hand on one of the lakes.

A few clubs local to me, now have complete alcohol bans, and your banned if caught.
Abusive pissed members, and beercans in the bushes, usual idiots.

For me this is ridiculous. Ban the idiots and piss heads for sure, but what about the sensible guys that enjoy a cold beer as the sun goes down?
If you just ban the beer the idiots are still there. They'll find something else to abuse or screw up eventually.

It is not a new thing. Alcohol taken to excess at a fishing venue.
multiple drunken incidents over the years at since it was brought to light, not without reason..
If they value their club ticket they will stop and change their habits, or find another ticket.
Like any other club really that protects, and values their assets.
I'm with Yonny on the odd beer for the sensible angler at dusk, but that didn't work with the idiots with the 1 or 2 slabs!
