Mix it with other stuff, as carp can become very preoccupied with it and will ignore everything else(including your hookbait)

I normally get mine from Copdock Mill, Gladwells just outside Ipswich. It is 5minutes drive for me, so not a problem.
I found the past couple of years hemp quality has been all over the place, some really bad batches, and the price has increased.
For the cost I started buying Giant Hemp at £38 a sack compared to £37 for 'normal'.
The past few years because of the quality issue I have been mixing it with Vitalin and pigeon conditioner or chicken corn.

I would mix them with other particles of different sizes and shapes because as previously mentioned carp can get preoccupied with the bait your throwing in if its all the same size. Also carp get used to how much effort they need to suck in a food particle or boilie, and then if the inhale your hookbait which is different to the rest then they may reject it. Its the same with floater fishing on the surface. So try and make a mix of different sizes and maybe even include some boilies in your mix, maybe chopped, crushed and turned into dust. This will mean that the carp keep on encountering different food items and will not know what is dangerous.

I have seen carp feeding over hemp and tares, and picking out the hemp, ignoring and leaving the tares.
I would fish hemp either to create total preoccupation, just ripping the bottom to pieces, as a minority particle in the mix, or with just a few grains around (say a pint).

Agree, Maltbys have always sold me decent hemp seed. Once prepared, I mix with rock salt, hemp oil from tesco and a handful of porridge oats
