If you watch the other videos his sentiment that others are so in awe of him that they will follow him around and so incompetent that try to catch off his efforts, is common.
Can someone please identify just what special talent others would be so keen to benefit from? His rigs are the same, his swim choice is sedentary, his bait is extremely common. His only real deviation from the norm is his liberal bait application.
I believe he is a grandiose narcissist and that set are always entertaining.

What sums it up is within the first few minutes we describes lockdown and days only fishing as him having his right to fish stripped from him...because the lake is too far away. A very dramatic way to describe still being able to fish but only for the days at any venue close to you.

Nah, not buying that for one moment. Hardly crawling with anglers was it?
I'd bet that had anyone else fished that spot and not been seen catching, they would have no-one fishing either side unless just by pure coincidence or a general punt or change of swim. Mugs followed him because he had one and that they thought he was on to something as clearly he's a decent angler.
I do find it a bit off-putting to be backing him up as I find him quite an odious character from the videos I've seen of him, this one changed my mind about him and that I can relate to exactly his predicament, like having to be all swervey and ultra discreet or outright lying otherwise brainlets will just ruin your angling because they can't use their own brain and do their own thing, instead they have to jump on your buzz and end up fugging it up for you.

He was hardly discreet about the place. I'm sure if I could even be arsed, I'd suss out where he was fishing given just the shape of the place and where he said it was quickly enough, and I'm sure there are people doing just that given his profile and media presence. I'd be very pissed off if he'd rock up on my place ruining it not just for me and the fellow members, but also future members. Bang on about the likes of Burgfield and the likes all you want, just leave the less well known places the fugg alone.

I don't think that that particular lake could get much busier to be honest, it has been pretty much rammed out for some years now. I watched the Ellis video and I must admit that he certainly makes carp fishing look like a fairly miserable existence!

What I don't get is the “people can't think for themselves” mentality. If I turn up to a lake, have a walk round trying to find fish, see nothing so drop in a swim on a hunch of past experiences, catch nothing, then move to the other side of the lake after seeing something and catch. That would be considered good angling and not being lazy and plotting up in the comfy swim til home time
But you do the walking around, fish spotting, night blanking and see fish on the other side of the lake where some else is fishing and it's bad to move over there 🤷🏻♂️ Surely if you (Greg Ellis in this case) see fish for you to make camp, then there's a good chance other anglers already on the lake have seen the same fish showing so are moving to get as close to them as possible, which is good angling no?
