Possibly a major contributor due to ozone depletion, population and our dirty habits etc but the world was once a water world, then an ice age and then...

I can't remember . I've just had a quick search and on skim reading found one to do with water isotopes, though I don't remember it as this article...hmm
By measuring the ratios of different water isotopes in polar ice cores, we can determine how temperature in Antarctica and Greenland has changed in the past. The oldest ice core we have was drilled by the European Project for Ice Coring in Antarctica (EPICA) from Dome C on the Antarctic plateau. It extends back 800,000 years and shows a succession of long, cold ‘glacial' periods, interspersed roughly every 100,000 years by warm ‘interglacial' periods (of which the last 11,000 years is the most recent).

Just had a read and I was thinking of much longer ago when Azolla had a significant impact on the atmosphere and temperature.
I believe the variations they are referring to, are caused by slight changes in the earths rotation or orbit around the sun. Slight temperature jump causing an increase in CO2 (from the oceans?) which further increases temperatures. Everything is reversed when the earth moves the other way.
Unfortunately I don't think we cannot blame the earths movement on our present day problems.
Main cause must be the carbon that was locked up in oil and coal etc, is now being or already has been released as CO2, consequently giving us our increased greenhouse effect.

I think it's a combination of things personally, but have no doubt about our impact, but nothing will change.
Limiting C02 production isn't pointless, but it's not as if we care, if we did we'd ban all drinks containing it.
The recent programme on Russia with Simon Reeve stated Russia is loosing an area of forest equivilant to 8000 sq miles per year, more than the Amazon, is anyone doing anything about it...no.
I've taken the ideology of living the best way I can, hopefully if more do it might hit those companies in the pocket and they might change. The newer generations, hmm, yes they have all the best intentions in the world but will that translate into anything as they get older. As for limiting breeding, can't do that, it's against your human rights.
Personally I like the Matrix film analogy, that humans are like a virus consuming everything in their path and then moving on, I just hope we haven't worked out how to get to other planets and ruin them before our time comes.

reminds me of a Matt Hayes programme where he was with a older chap famous for catching big Chub, claimed the river being dredged of silt ruined the fishing for decades after. He also outed Matt for catching the big Chub the night before showing it to the cameras the next day, iirc, had me in stitches 🤣

Not been on the forum much but book marked this article a while ago and it goes someway to back up your thoughts. A bit long winded but some interesting things, I never knew dredging products were classed as waste by the EU!

Just heard that the Australian government will not bail out Virgin Australia meaning Quantas will be dominant.
Richard Branson is asking our government for a Virgin Atlantic bail out so BA doesn't become dominant.
If we let them fail air fares will go up, maybe that's a way of limiting global warning?
