I was making a more general point.
My only experience of getting it in the neck was when I was fly fishing from the bank of a river and this woman on a bloody huge horse approaches. Before I can say anything she shouts 'stop that now! ' ... I'm like, sorry what?
Her response from on high was 'stop doing that. The horse thinks it's a whip'
I politely pointed out that I wasn't the person who taught the horse what a whip was in the first place....

There is and will always be people like these who need a reason to complain or attack other people, the next thing these people will be complaining about to the local council is the amount of Goose **** there is around the area and can it be cleaned up as their west highland white Neville keeps rolling in it.
Just watched the film and feel for the bloke concerned. Were it me I would be make an immediate complaint against the officer that arrested me as he apparently did so without checking facts that could be easily investigated. If the complaint is thrown out I would take legal advice about seeking compensation ( and bring up this option during my initial meeting with the duty Inspector).
The law is the law and should be upheld fairly and not conceding to those that shout the loudest.

It will never happen in this country as majority of politicians won't go against the grain of the mainstream as they're petrified of any retribution against them affecting their standing in parliament
Worlds gone soft if you ask me! Not allowed to stand up for what you believe in else you a tarred as a sexist, racist, homophobic biggot. Need either let people be what they want to be without rubbing it in other faces and pushing their views on others or completely turn it in to a nanny state where no one is allowed to do anything

You only need to look at the PETA website to see a glimpse at what future issues anglers could face. Under the heading ‘factbox' there is this: ‘Up to 43 per cent of fish released after being caught die within six days'. Also several other ‘facts' that are very misleading.
Personally i don't think angling is in any serious danger overall but i wouldn't be surprised if antis were to target fisheries at some point.

PETA had some good campaigns in the past. A fox's fur looks way better on his own back than draped around some rich blokes trophy wife....
But - as is happening predictably on this thread...
We don't like it when we are all lumped together, so we shouldn't do the same with those who have different opinions. Being opposed to animal cruelty and bloodsports doesn't make me a lefty, vegan, do-gooder, snowflake 'anti'. In the same way my enjoyment of angling doesn't make me a brutal, murdering, carnivore fascist...
There are some eloquent and articulate members on here and if we are to move forward in a society with changing attitudes, those are the voices we need to hear.

Possibly for certain individuals/groups involved in shooting for money & fun or pest controlling if asked by a non countryside enthusiast.
The Police see it as a waste of time, much easier for them to arrest one individual than have to call for backup to arrest a number of antis.
Shocking with regards the guys business but that's what some of these idiots are about along with the online faceless abuse.
Doubt they would get much joy if they turned up to some of the lakes I've fished past & present and I'm sure many others out there, a thick ear comes to mind!

We had an upsurge in anti's against angling back in the 80's. They did some coordinated protests on a few venues but the lone activists that targeted and tried to disrupt anglers, soon found it a danger sport of its own and were sent packing.
By the way, if you ever meet a female PETA member, please refer to her as 'Pet'..... just being friendly like.
It's Valentines Day everybody, spread the love, treat your partner well. I'm cooking mine a meal tonight and we are having roast Vegan - corn fed of course.

We are a country with the premise of rule of law. If someone has been legally wronged as you say, use the systems to right this, that are obvious and available.
I'd suspect from the post's on this thread there's a Countryside Alliance slant from some, possibly members. There are many overlapping area's between CA and angling. They're the area's that should be worked on. CA will never get the majority of anglers to support all their views. That's the reality. Far better to use Frenzy's otter approach if the CA want angling support in mutual area's of concern.

Happened in the 20's as well. Match on the Trent was targeted by PETA, some misguided activist wanted to get out of the water in my peg, the wife told her to do one, or it would get messy. the kind Police Sargent suggested she let him do that for her as he wasn't bothered about getting wet!
