What sort of pit is it, gravel, chalk etc?
Well worth fishing on the edges of drop-offs.
Stalking, floater fishing, zigs?

It's a gravel pit and reasonably stocked circa 150 fish.


I do a lot of piking so I've got some running booms which I could use for adjustable zigs, I take it you fish quite tight and have a lot of drag to help hooking?

Sounds tricky

A lot of syndicates are because they are natural and unspoiled, but that's what you want and what you joined for
Being a bit daunted at first is a good thing it means you are showing the lake respect

Just cos others are heavy baiting doesn't mean you have to follow the crowd. Have a really good chat with the bailiff and ignore what the others suggest at first as it's the bailiff who is important
It sounds obvious the bars are an issue, have you thought about float fishing a large float at range and keeping all the line on the surface? You could have a large mesh bag on and a drop off lead heli setup, then just fire freebies at the float

It will get tiresome watching the thing but will get you started while you gradually work things out, GL.

When you get one from a tough one it makes it all worthwhile

Float fishing is so underrated, almost forgotten about (and perfect for day sessions)
Those Polaris floats are great (if overpriced)
You can use any size lead on them and can get them in big chunky sizes which are easy to watch, and they set at the depth of the water, very clever things

Plus the bite registration is brilliant with a float - hard work in the wind but you can sink the rop tip and line, with a big float on, and get away with it in a stiff breeze

In reason to how I lost it, it toned off and was on for about 2 mins then it went solid. The fish then must of spit the hook. Yeah we do have boat. Next run I'm getting straight into it and fight it from
Above.

Maybe an idea just fish two or even one rod at first on a lake like that
When they get on it the last thing you need is crossing lines as well as weeded fish
My venue gets cramped and nightmarey at times just cos of the snags, it's a bit pokey and the margins are hairy. I've started using just two rods on there spread out miles apart from each other with only the butt ends near the bivvy

Lol 2 more runs today, the first snapped a wide gape 6 and the bend. The second spat the hook 12inches from the net.

I did hook and land a duck in 15 foot of water. (Safely retuned )

Fish dont "spit the hook" chap. That's a hook pull, caused generally by a poor hook hold, or playing them way too hard (especially at short range)
