I'm with you.
The point is a 4lb TC rod needs a 4 ounce lead (casting), at least.
Heavier the lead = more mouth damage.

Just a quick question... has anyone on here actually fished with them?
I'm currently using 12ft 3.25lb FS CTXs which I really like but I can't get them to hit 120yards (before anyone says I've got lessons with Terry himself this summer already booked).
I'm planning on upgrading them to some 3.5lb TC rods soon as that will add a few yards at least. Should I look at the Kaizens? Or should I go for some customs/other off the shelf rods?

I would wait until youve had your lessons with terry Edmonds. He will no doubt carry the kaizens with him now, so you can have a hands on test. But he also has knowledge of harrison and shimano, so should be able to give you an idea of what suits you best

Those rods should see you getting well over 120yds, but if you do need to buy new he can give you advice.

Distance depends on a lot. What line are you using and what size lead? Distance lead? Lead arrangement and rig/bait size etc

I fished a match on fox at abbey last year and the guy in the peg next to me was using these in the same tc. He was hitting the far bank (130 ish) with no issues at all. I'd suggest that new rods won't really help

For sure - I'm working on the setup as nearly all my fishing for the past few years has been under 50 yards. Just a few venues I'm now fishing may need a longer chuck of up to 120-130.
Currently using 15lb Thinking Anglers (0.35 or 0.37 I think) OGX straight through but about to change back to 0.33 ESP Syncro (12lb I think) with a leader. Lead - I've found 3.5oz is the best to cast on the 3.25lb rods. Nearly always a leadclip. I'm getting longer and more accurate with the practice.

Have you tried 4oz? Personally find that better than a 3.5 on a 31/4 rod.
What leader you going to be using, a full length shock leader is best.

I'll try the 4oz again - I found the 4oz on my previous rods was too much for the 3.25.
In terms of leaders - I use the ESP ones which are tapered or Armakord in 50lb.
