Well, this could go down as one of the worst product launches i have witnessed. He ought to have discussed it more with fishery managers before making it so public.
Lets be honest the main thing he has brought to the table is a loaded rig... rigs with some form of elasticity have been around for a long while they just havnt been pre tensioned. In this respect, taking morals out of it, it seems to work. I can understand how it will probably convert more pick-ups.
The main issue he has to address is the safety. That seems to be the number one issue that has come up and i think he will need to go back to the drawing board.
There have already been some good suggestions in this post on how to make it safer.
I do think its a matter of time before this or something like this is brought to market safely. The "box" has been opened at this point. There will only be the morals of the concept to discussed about then. That is an entirely differnt arguemnt in my opinion.

My local lake has said until they see 1 in the flesh it won't be banned, which I think is pretty sensible.

Will prob snap when the plastic goes brittle in winter water temps. I Still won't be using it. Looks aloud of cack. And I bet it won't even make the shelves of tackle shops.

Looking at the design, I'm surprised it doesn't have some form of internal system to cock it and perhaps a button to release it when needed..it currently just looks a bit of a mess and I can see why people are concerned about fish safety.

Regardless of thoughts, one thing he has managed to do is get the entire Carp World talking about a product, whether people like it or not 😂
It's not for me personally, however I'm sure in time many will use it, I'd imagine many fisheries stances will soften personally as I'd assume the research has been done regarding fish safety but it's certainly got everyone talking.
Time will tell, maybe we'll be talking about this in 5 years time wondering what all the fuss was about

Mid 80's around the period of the "spider rig" and the "bungee rig", their was an adaptation of the "bungee rig" based on a very short length of pole elastic about an inch long or a biro spring in a short length of biro tube about 3 inch long that was tensioned and one end of the tube fastened to the lead and the other to your hook length. When a fish pulled on it, it released a pin which caused the elastic or spring to recoil hooking the fish. The hook length was also fastened to the biro tube.
I gave it a miss, it was too much messing about and was unethical and it went into obscurity as fast as it appeared like the bungee rig and spider rig plus on a longish chuck it would "spring" itself unless in a pva bag.
