When I was a kid I remember not being able to thread my 3lb line through the seemingly endless eyes on my match rod because my hands were shaking as I'd seen something exciting. Nowadays it's all just clip this to that and you're fishing. I guess it's how the world has gone. Everyone just wants the most convenient and quickest way to get to the end result.
Things are so easy now but I really miss the struggle of the past. It felt more soulful. To me anyway.

. . starting to think you've got shares in this new venture lol . . .
What on earth have tip tops got to do with it? I'd be using these anyway to protect my rod tips irrespective of this product (they perform a separate function - this product does not protect your tips) so I'm not sure what your point is . .
Its not that I don't want this product . . its that I don't actually NEED it!
If it helps you sleep at night I design things for a living - we normally ascertain during the process whether something is useful or not and balance this with style, complexity, cost to design, prototype and manufacture and then market at a profit - all I can say is that for this specific product it feels like it was conceived and possibly 'approved' on a Friday afternoon in the pub . . .
I've sat in and test driven a Tesla P90D - its a beautifully designed, rapid (supercar acceleration) piece of technology and a fantastic product that is difficult not to love - is it necessary however and would I buy one for my current needs . . .NO

I couldn't care less if people buy it, I just think it's really odd people are shunning a product that is literally just an amalgamation of two products they already use.
I have never used a tip top in my life, even with an open quiver and I've never damaged a rod tip. Does that make it a bad product just for noddies? No. It just means its a product that some people may like to use for peace of mind. You don't NEED them.
People have £2k bait boats and castable sonars, remote cameras, £650 bite alarms, and that has all seem to become accepted. Yet if people want a £60 device that keeps their rig in perfect condition when clipped to their rod, all of a sudden that's the limit?
This is exactly thr same as any time Korda have released an 'innovation' everyone jumps on them. If it doesn't solve a problem for you, then don't buy it. It's like a bald man saying hair brushes are stupid and pointless.

. . your point in not buying it if it doesn't appeal / perform a function for you personally is a fair one . . agree with that.
However I think the possible consensus is that for a new, over hyped player releasing its 'first' product, and with punters expecting something genuinely innovative (with all the noise) that maybe that product should have been a little more considered . . .
Also releasing a single product (rather than a family of items etc) creates a focal point just waiting to be criticised - a weird and risky marketing decision IMO and maybe one that indicates there's a limited amount of cash in the pot at the moment until positive sales dictate otherwise . . .

I'm sure cash flow is an issue. I doubt his investors want to chuck all the money in straight off, they just want to dip their toe in before they fully commit.
Imagine if his first product was just a line of terminal tackle. Just the same rebranded Chinese hooks and bits everyone else uses. Everyone would be laughing.
At least his first product launched is genuinly a product that doesn't already exist. If people think its usless or not is up to them, but it's not something anyone else makes.
Im sure after this now he can release his line of hooks and line and all that rebranded chinese stuff, and it won't make his company feel quite like its just re branding chinese stuff like everyone else.

I expect this is their first product as the development process was relatively short. The design work was done, simple injection molding tooling, run them off, on the shelf.
A new hook or clothing range will take a lot longer with design, mfg, testing etc.
Tbh they've done well to get anything on the shelf so quickly imo. Probs prioritized it for the xmas period.

I dont believe ali had anyrhing to do with designing it. Someone else did the hard work and ali got it put into production.
