So after 6 years my Fortis Marine Jacket has started to leak. The shoulder seam has come away internally too.

For £200 I am a little disappointed it has only lasted 6 years, and that 6 years is not week in week out usage.

Anyway, I don't mind spending the money on something that is worth it so chuck me your best lightweight fully waterproof jackets that won't let me down.

I recently bought a korda drykore jacket. Its lightweight and quite supple. Seems very good quality, and kordas custoner service is second to none from my limited dealings with them. Obviously i cant say much about the longevity of it, but it feels like it will last a long time.
I bought the dark camo one. Wish id have got the olive as i like to wear camo trousers, and hate the idea of being a full camo w*nker

Not expensive or (very) light, but my trakker downpour jacket has been excellent. Think you can find them for about forty quid.

Breathable by vents so not one if you're roaming, but I was out in mine yesterday doing normal carp fishing stuff and it kept me bone dry.

I looked for a lighter and more breathable one last autumn and decided they just aren't worth the money considering they will be caught on brambles covered in bait spunk and carp slime

I have one of the original mk1 Korda Drykore jackets and it’s still going strong, can’t faukt it to be honest

Yeah I’ll third the Korda dry core. I know people bang on about never buying clothes from tackle brands but this is actually decent and don’t fit like a bin bag.

I bought the Korda mk2 dry core and I’ve been quite impressed with how thin and stretchy the material is. TBH so far it’s only been used for stopping me getting covered when taking capture photos, but it hasn’t leaked .

For info, I couldn’t justify the trousers as well as I hardly ever wear them, so bought some flexothane bib and braces instead at £35, they are very good for the money and again a nice stretchy material but slightly tougher than the Korda drycore.

I bought a cheap one from sports direct a few years ago £20 if I remember correctly and it’s 100% waterproof

I was thinking about a flexothane jacket (or similar), a couple of sizes bigger so easy throw on over a fleece when jumping out to the rods in the rain or sorting out a capture.

I have ex issue goretex thats great at being weatherproof, but not ideal if getting covered in fish slime, then stinking the bivvy out when it dries.
The smooth flexo might shake off excess water better and be easier to wipe down.

Go to an outdoor shop and get a proper Goretex jacket. Or if you need camo or green the Arktis military jackets are superb and built to last and survive outdoors in a war zone.

I deliberated for a while on the flexothane (mostly around size as it’s easy to get bib and brace wrong), but it’s pretty impressive stuff and looks quite hard wearing. They pack down to nothing, baggy enough to go over my polar salopettes easily in the winter and super useful for staying dry in fish photos when on waters where waders are banned.

On Gerry's (RIP) recommendation I bought this and the salopettes

Fort Airflex Breathable Waterproof Jacket from Holland country clothing. Cheap and cheerful and are 100% waterproof.

I'll forth it - got the keks too, been dry as a bone in them for over three years - could be four...

Flexothane jacket and bib n brace is what you need, had mine a couple of years with no issues. Comfy for sitting and walking in and will never leak. I hang my jacket off a hook under the brolly and it’s easy to get on when needed. Shake it off and hang it back up.

Cheap as chips and if ever mine break will definitely buy more.

But I look like a trawlerman.

Yep these Fort Airflex jacket and trousers are great been using them the last few years for both work and fishing for the money hard to beat
