I'm looking for the best lightweight brolly currently available. I have both a aqua fast and light and a nash groundhog. The fast and light I heavier and smaller with metal poles and the nash groundhog is larger with carbon fibre poles and to me is my preferred brolly. They are both however getting on and starting to leak. To me it would be simple if the nash groundhog was still a available to just get another one as it is everything you could want in a brolly being so light and very strong. It also lasted me a good 6 plus years bring used every week before it has started to leak around the central boss and I just can't seem to be able to seal it. The fast and light was a impulse buy as I saw it cheap. It is ok just a bit too small to fit everything under comfortably, heavier compared to the groundhog and despite less use has started to leak along the seams. I am also not a fan of metal spokes as I had a old jrc brolly years ago that bent up in the wind and was never right again after. Although I was out in a gale with the thing getting flattened while I tried to hold it down at 3am. I am not interested in other types tempest's etc as I has a pioneer ultralite for winter (it's anything but ultralite! it's like lifting a body in and out of the car compared with a brolly).

A bit lighter than the basic groundhog due to the lack of centre pole.

Coverage just as wide but not quite as deep. Still very adequate though.

I've got the x Forge brolly,really good quality I think it's about 9kg with groundsheet 4 storm poles and pegs,nice pack down length.
Not cheap I wouldn't buy from abroad as customs is expensive I think there looking at someone distributing in the uk.

Lo pro is light,longer pack down length.

Another vote for wychwood around 4kg and Daiwa mission is 3kg I wouldn't want to lug around a 9 kilo brolly

I don't,.
only use 2 storm poles and don't use the supplied mozzi or groundsheet.
Still won't be as light as what's mentioned.or prob as good value for money.
really good quality though.

If you can find one, the Hutchinson team shelter weighed in at 2.4 kg.

It was a beach shelter / fox evo looking thing.

Used one for years.

The wychwood is a great bit of kit

Carbon or composite I believe..

I have 3 whychwood brollies,..Great shelters ..Make sure when you dry them out no water is left inside ,around the internal bell cap..or it could make the retaining wire rust ..make sure the bell cap is firmly tight..

I took the plunge and bought the wychwood tactical what a brolly it's got the lot takes rlx flat 6 for nights not to big for days in a chair rear vent good material light well pleased much much better than the solar undercover I had before so pleased I changed only one thing don't like the camo should have been green but can live with that thanks for all recommendations

Took delivery of the korum progress shelter today and set up on the garden.

Perfect for the minimal overnight approach and will accommodate my compact JRC bedchair.

The best bit is the weight. Leave the centre pole at home and it comes in at 2.18 kg.

Wychwood MHR Mk2 - all day long. Best brolly on the market, decent mozzie net also but doesnt come with the brolly.

I took a chance on the korum brolly too, it offers more coverage than my wychwood 50. The build quality probably isn't quite as good but time will tell, for a light and compact brolly it looks spot on
