Are there any commonly held beliefs within carp fishing that you believe are rubbish or have disproved yourself?
To kick things off, I don't believe seagulls grab every single boilie that gets put out by a throwing stick. I've seen them grab the odd one but more often than not I think they see the splash of the boilie hit the water, dive in after it, but actually fail to grab it.

I don't believe that a single gull can get every bait. I do believe that when there about 8 of them hitting every throw they do a decent job. Particularly the black heads.

"they don't take floaters in here" heard many times. if the fish aren't taking floaters infront of their swim, they don't bother to go and look for them

That only this bait works on here, or won't catch on pop ups.

Me:proceeds to have 5 runs including 2 x20's and an 18.5 and. Lost fish and a tench over big bed of bait over 3 days

Them:The polish have had all the fish out of here they come with boats and vans
Me:how can they when there's loads of deep silt and you can't tell me the houses opposite doesn't have either a carp angler or knows someone who is a carper and they'd be watching the lake,also lake is very overgrown and has islands as well I'd imagine it's difficult to net without being obvious plus area is a neighbourhood watch.
Had another dog walker tell my brother when he was walking his dog around another lake nearby that there's no fish in the lake,the lake then throws up a 43lb carp by a known bait maker local to me and the reason people were being told there no fish in the lake was that fish and also they were saying all this as the locals who fish it didn't want any new people there.
