I have really done my right shoulder in.
I can trace it back to a visit to a big water where I spombed the granny out of it, and I'm sure the throwing stick didn't help either.
The doctor reckons it's a frozen shoulder but it could be a torn muscle or ligament damage, also known as rotator cuff. I am waiting for some physio.
Now I can't lift my arm above my head without some pain and reaching out wide or behind my head is very painful.
So just the catty for a long while...

My mrs has been suffering with this for over a year
Not a quick fix unfortunately and she's had the magic jab that's supposed to help

I hope I can fast track through the physio waffle and go straight to the cortisone injections.
I have had them for plantar and although it took a few jabs it's now liveable.
No idea when some fishing will be a realistic prospect.

Google: Dr Kirsch bodyweight hanging exercises for rotator cuff injury. Helped me enormously.

Ask for a cortisone injection but tell them you want it Ultrasound Guided.!!
this means 2 things one they get it exactly in the best spot and two its almost pain free
I have had 6 over the past 17 years
initially there was a limit of 3 as past that it could make your ligament brittle and liable to snap but they changed the type of cortisone so now there is no limit
the first one was the worst pain was incredible but the last 3 have all been Ultrasound Guided and didnt really hurt much at all
one thing I learnt after you have it try to really rest it for at least 24 hours dont lift anything this will pay dividends trust me
things I have done
torn my rotator cuff muscle almost in half and ripped my shoulder muscle almost off my shoulder blade and snapped my main shoulder tendon but I did lift the end of a 600kg refuelling boom when the castor wheel supporting it dropped and jammed in an expansion joint
within 30 seconds of feeling elated that I had done it
I realised I could not move my arm and my hand and arm almost doubled in size it was scary that lead to 17 years of problems

I would put my money on it that it's the throwing stick that's caused it
I used to get a repetitive pain around my left shoulder blade that ran down my back after using a stick on a regular basis. I would cut down on the amount of bait you stick out and only use one if you really have to. Once you get sorted!

I have had those symptoms twice from repetitive strain injury, physio sorted it fairly quickly. Now if I feel the slightest twinge I commence the first exercise they used and the symptoms have gone in a few days. Not saying it will work for everyone but it might be worth a try and physio is the one NHS service that seems to be easily accessible, certainly in my area.

If I remember correctly my tendons in both arm's have shrunk and need an operation to cut them ,I suffered with it over 15 years it's from engineering, I wear a strap around both arms now advice from the doctor just below the elbow when I'm working I've retired now though (58) but I loose feelings in my fingers when clycling ,I forget to put it on when I'm using the throwing stick, but thanks for the physio advice but I need to go under the knife but I'm avoiding it

id insist on a mri scan and xray at the very least, i slipped on a beer crate in 91 while fitting a bathroom window and my right shoulder slammed against the sink, thought nothing of it being building trade how wrong was i .any way got worse as i got older 55 last saturday. anyway to summarize, id torn my supraspinatus 30mm and after a failed shoulder op, the surgeon said i need a new shoulder ,wait till i retire and no heavy lifting. ps ask your gp for some NAPROXEN help with the pain. hopefully its not to serious,im managing my pain ,but i got a letter of my gp so i can drop my tackle off at my swim on my syndicate. every cloud hey.

When I did my right arm and shoulder in I was in absolute agony to try and raise my arm and hand higher than my shoulder and I fell lucky.
I was at a leaving do for a work colleague when a girl I knew who was a friend of my work colleague noticed that when I was drinking my pint, I was having to raise my glass as high as I could which was not even chin height and then dip my head to drink out of the glass and I was wincing with the pain.
She came across to see me and ask me what my problem was and I told her. She told me that she practices Rei Kei and if I wanted she would look at it, so she sat on the arm of the chair and put her hands on my shoulders and found the place where the problem was. She then placed her hands on the spot and I felt a very hot burning sensation go through my shoulder. As we only had a few minutes as we was moving to a new venue, she said she would see me during the week in passing at work.
A few nights later, she popped into see me and once again applied her hands to the spot where the problem was. Once again, I felt that burning sensation go right through me and just held her hands their for a couple of minutes.
For an entire week, that part of my body glowed with the heat of her hands and miraculously my shoulder was cured straight away and to this day I have full movement of my arm pain free and this must have been close to 14 years ago.
Throwing sticks have a lot to answer for and I have mentioned it many times over the years, they need a bung fitting inside them which if fitted correctly is just level with top of were the hand holds the stick and can be finely tuned to your own action by moving it up or down ever so slightly.
With a correctly fitted bung, it alleviates using big arm movements and it becomes more of a fly casting action from the elbow and far less from the shoulder. I make my own sticks and if I buy one, always fit a bung. People who have used them are always impressed at how easy they are to use with a bung and also far more accurate as you do not have to get the boilies rolling down the stick to fire them out, with a bung, they are in the right position to fire out to start with.
Even Rod Hutchinson's design in the Carp Strikes Back has a bung fitted and my original stick I bought in the 80's had a bung in. Somewhere along the line, tackle companies have stopped fitting them and virtually the only way to get the bait rolling down the stick is to raise the arm high and dip the stick down behind you and then do a slashing action to fire them out.

I will ask about an mri. They will probably want me to do the whole physio thing to see how it goes but I will argue that only the mri can accurately diagnose the exact state of the injury.
It's either spombitis or stickitis...
I'm already on naproxen and co-codamol for back and joint issues.
And the omeprazol too.

Did they give you the other pill to take with the naproxin?
My stomach has never been the same since they gave me that crap without the other pill to protect it.
The NHS is useless for these things, the standard treatment seems to be to waste as much time as possible and hope it disappears or you give up in the meantime

carefull !!!!!!!!!
I lived on 3 pills Tramadol , Naproxen and Omeprazole
but still ended up with stomach problems in the end
you should always take Omeprazole or lansoprazole with pain killers and anti inflammatory tablets
