I've been watching a few carping videos on YouTube lately, not something I do a lot of I must admit, but it seems EU public waters are now the current craze. It's something I have only ever done in France, Germany and Austria apart from on 2 occasions when I tried private lakes.
I don't however see the attraction of racing from one river or lake to the next after perhaps one or two nights blanking somewhere. Is it because the anglers are tackle or bait company reps and they have to catch at all costs?
Whatever the reason I don't get it.

It's ok
With everyone now going abroad to get away from the crowds the banks over here will be quieter lol
Just keep it quiet about catching and everyone may go over there lol

I've noticed this too, 2 week trip, but they go to 8 different lakes. I completely understand moving venues if it's packed, or doesn't look like it will do a bite, but it seems they have it all planned out beforehand. Each to there own and all that. Seems like an awful lot of hard work for no reason though.

I've seen this too - but it's purely for the content rather than a new craze.
They are fully backed by their sponsors covering a huge list of costs involved moving from lake to lake chasing the bites.
Makes for different style of videos but not something you'd copy.

The two from the baitworks podcast just did a trip like this though, not for the cameras, because they wanted to do it. They spoke about it on the latest podcast I think.

They're only moving a lot because they're filming and it needs to be interesting content.
That said, if you were 2 or 3 nights in and it wasn't happening, wouldn't you move?

They are just mimicking the great eurobanx.
But it's nice to see people finally moving away from pay lakes. Nothing wrong with them, but there is so much fishing and living to be had outside the gated lakes with the pre-build swims.

Yes. After 2-3 nights I would, not after 12 hours. I would never dream of rocking up at some swim on a massive river, put in a kilo of bait and believe the reason I didn't catch was because the fish just weren't there!
The whole thing smacks of impatience, rushing around from one swim to another. There doesn't seem to be any thoughts on building a swim, baiting tactics. One day here, kilo of bait per rod, next day somewhere else, kilo of bait per rod...

But they aren't chasing fish round a lake, they're literally upping sticks and driving 100 miles to a different lake and starting again.
I certainly ding find it entertaining to watch at all. ADHD carping.

I get the impression they are perhaps given a list of locations by mates and others in the trade that have fished the same rivers and lakes. Even down to the GPS data where they can park right in the swim. Perhaps they have an ultimate destination in mind and are breaking up the journey? All the same, give it a couple of days and enjoy the view!
One guy was rushing around so much he nearly lost his boat. Another decided to try amputating a couple of fingers by wrestling with an electric motor tangled up in braid. Others are impatient and fractious and oozing aggression. It reminds me a bit of Matt Hayes and "The great rod race".
How to turn relaxation into a competition.

They're just making content, it's not real fishing. Someone somewhere decided that more venues is better and the rest just copy.

Why wouldn't you?
France is a big 'ol bit of land. Just fishing one of the 90+ departments could take you years if you only fished one water per week. I've got about a decades worth of fishing noted down, just in the north, and that's if I go with the mentality of fishing 3 waters over a five day period.
If I have spent hundreds on an adventure, why twiddle my thumbs for two days in the hope of having one in two days, when the next water I could have three in an overnighter?
Plus by fishing as many lakes as possible, you get to note the better lakes for future trips, so a year down the line you get to visit a couple of "banker" waters, relax a little, and reap the rewards of the previous legwork you had put in previously.
If people want to spend up to a grand fishing the same lake all week surrounded by 10 other english blokes that's down to them, but I prefer to fish the way I fish over here. Daytime legwork, overnighters, get some morning bites then move on. You can fish exactly the same as you do here, but the yootoob vids would lead you to believe that you needs boats and fish rainbow style, when some of the best fishing could be had on very English looking waters with no anglers on them. People just cannot be arsed to do the homework, the legwork, and want to catch 80's from the pay lakes.
