Hi Guys,

I am looking to get one of these this winter but don't have a clue what to go for. Not sure if it is worth getting a decent one. Had my heart on getting a Coleman Blackcat a few years ago but see they don't do them anymore. Seen another one called a Mr Heater Little buddy. Or would I be better of with a cheap and cheerful 20quid parabolic heater. Your thoughts please.

Safer with a hot water bottle and a decent sleeping bag

Or you could try electric heat of some type

I have these already. Its not for that. More so for winter days piking or when it gets really bad and just want to have it on when I am not in the bag. Would never put it on while sleeping

No Harm. Seen the Nash one in the flesh and it's terrible. No one I know that has one can recommend it.

Just layer up and deal with it, it's not meant to be like being in your living room.

i really dont understand the need to patronise/criticise people that want to make their winter fishing more bearable .... Considering the absolute **** people now carry (bait boats, motorised barrows, sonar devices, bivvies the size of a small house and sleep sytems that weigh a small car erc) a small heater is far from the most indulgent in comparison. Used sensibly with ventilation heaters are not a problem

In that case
I personally wouldn't bother with a heater I would just use my stove to take the edge off

I have been searching for a small gas heater too. Not for fishing though, but for my small garden office. I'd also been looking at the Mr Heater range. No experience in them though but liked idea if this one as it can also has option to run off larger cylinders.

Loads of Mr Heater types on Ebay and Amazon just seems a bit of overkill to me

lots of people in Europe where it does actually get cold enough to need a heater ! use a Paraffin heater called BIG RED think this is the latest version of it ??

I'm sorry, but I am going to upset G4fne myself and say you are far better off with decent clothing, sleeping bag etc than a bivvy heater.

It is a risk on various fronts, the risk of suffocation and obviously the flame risk.

If you dress and feed/drink yourself properly, then you can be warm even on the coldest days and nights.

Obviously I know a stove is still a fire risk, which is why always be careful with them, but a bivvy heater is an unnecessary risk.
