Has anyone used any of Ali's/OMC new Tungsten Tubing, I bought some of the green and upon opening it had a strong chemical/burnt plastic sort of smell to it.
I have today being back to my local AD and just had a smell of the brown and yep sure enough it is there aswell.
I did reach out to Ali but he just tried shrugging it off, claiming it was already massively popular. so I thought I would ask the end users themselves as it is so popular if any one else has noticed the tubing having a smell?

They haven't been trading long enough to have a grasp on the sales performances of individual products.
All his stuff will have sold well upon release it was hugely hyped and he is active in the media.
I'm yet to find any that beat ESP if I'm honest, supple, mush heavier than leadcore and leadless leaders and nice drab Pantone's.

back in the day the great jim gibbinson wrote about the smell emitting from plastics and silicon's used in rig making. he advocated soaking the rig materials in rain water for a few days or exposing to air (out of packet) for a period of time. I still do this with all my plastic/silicon rig parts to remove any smell

I'm sure after a bit of actual fishing use, and time in the silt and lake bed, it will not smell like out the packet.

Have you used the dark matter in cold water,it becomes brittle and snaps.I only use the rigmarole tubing now,best on the market by a mile

I've used it through all seasons and never had a problem, I only got onto it when my local shop ran out of the esp stuff.
But really rate it, I do fish silty lakes so I don't know if that would effect it differently during the colder months

I was only casting around 40 yards and saw it move up the line,I thought it had come out of the tail rubber.I reeled in straight away to find it had broken in to two pieces,maybe I had a bad batch

No you didn't have a bad batch. Its like all this tungsten tubing, beads, tails ect which I do use but they must smell as the crays seem to love ripping them to shreds.

Plastic corn catches so many fish and I'm sure they must be able to smell it - how else would we catch at night on it? I'm sure I read something from Frank Warwick that the production of plastic contains some fish oils which is why plastic fake baits work so well?
Tungsten tubing may be no different. Just because we find the smell off putting it may well be an attractant to carp. I've used tungsten tubing for years and it does have a unique smell but never seems to have put fish off. Once it's been in the water 24 hours it seems to have disappeared.
However, if its snapping then that would indicate a problem. I've only ever had that when it's old and been used a lot!

Fish can see at night and a food item doesn't have to emit a scent to be attractive. I catch carp on wooden balls when fishing crayfish infested water... they look like boilies to the carp, even at night
