I just purchased a Solar bedchair CH08 after some reviews on this forum. First impressions are good, it seems sturdy and comfortable.

I had wrongly assumed it would also be somewhat of a chair and I'd be able to recline the head of the bedchair and be able to sit up but you can't.

I can't help but think if there was an extendable pole to attached to the head of the bed if could be held up in a sitting position. Does anyone know if there are any aftermarket accessories that do this?

(I have seen the chairs that you can buy that sit ontop of the bedchair, but they look really uncomfortable)

Nope - Trakker Levelite transformer is your answer - have nodded off on it infinite times; whether in standalone or bedchair buddy mode

Failing that take several pillows

Thanks - I have a solar reclining chair as well and it's great, just wondered if there was a way of using the bedchair as a recliner.
(how did you know it was my intention to nod off )

Storm pole with a butt rest on it

Another one for the Trakker transformer chair brilliant bit of kit that is, it definitely isn't uncomfortable like below I always fall asleep in mine

This is probably your best option, storm pole and u shaped butt grip and either side of head section as two will be better than one in the middle.

Two adjustable webbing straps either side of the upright head bit,that way you can adjust to suit..

BTW...this is why I don't rate the the flat ,hinge bedchairs,as I still use a Avid RT ,which is head adjustable..plus a SIM,or it'd be a poor system..

Also ,I remember the times ,where a bed chair ,really was a bed....chair...,

in all the years I owned bedchairs

I never once used it like a chair as I either had a separate chair or a bedchair buddy I was so pleased when they did away with the (IMO) pointless in the way adjusting wheels and made them like a bed you would sleep in at home

I still do the end section ,flip up ..and sit on the main part of the bed,on a partly inflated multimat,...

But ,honestly, the footbar at the base of the bedchair,will dig into yr lower back so its only used as a short term thing..if going light ,or tarp fishing on a wild place..

Best thing I've found so far is a Helinox chair one XL..Nice and super light,very comfy..

I've got 3 bedchairs as very occasionally both my wife and son
Join me for breaks away.

A stealth
A prologic wide, similar to indulgence
An indulgence wideboy.

All have the wheels and varying degree of upwards head slope
And even built in pillow area.

The indulgence has the most of that. It's.my fave.
It will be a right pain for.me I think if they all break and I have to
Go flat.

That said. The wheel itself has never proved that useful.
I'm.much more likely to extend the head legs fully
And use a pillow. Putting my at.about a 35 degree angle.

I guess this will be less with a flat bed. Maybe pickup a 2nd hand indulgence with a wheel and curved head.

Totally agree with this - probably used my Cocoon as an actual chair twice during its elongated lifetime and spent more time trying to make all subsequent roller wheel chairs as flat as poss

I reckon the last bedchair I used as a chair was the original 1990's Fox Ultra I think it was.

Since then a bedchair stays flat in the bivvy and I sit across it, sit on the ground or on a chair.

I've been using a flat bed chair for years and love it, if I do want to sit in a more upright position I use a Helinox Sunset chair, nice seating position, high back and weighs in at less than 1.5kg, folds down to almost nothing, gets my vote.

The bed buddies where you sit across aren't uncomfortable,that's probably your best bet
