What does everyone recommend, looking for a snag/shock leader and seen quite a few on the market now, don't want anything too thin.

Yeah I've got some of that but it's so thin definitely need a casting glove and something on the rig end to protect the fish. Was looking for something thicker to use straight to the rig, see fox do one at 0.66 diameter but not seen any reviews to see if it sinks well and holds its colour.

Doesn't exactly behave like a braid though, I use that for stiff rigs!
I replaced my sinking Arma Kord leaders with the Gardner sinking shock leader. When you see the Arma Kord going through weed from above from a boat it stands out like a sore thumb. It has a shiny coating that reflects the light and looks bright silver. The Gardner is a bit better. Neither sink that well but they are designed to be slick on the cast.
The Gardner is 0.37 I think, I always use a finger stall with braid as I find I bottle the big chucks of I don't. Don't think you'd need it with a tight clutch though.

Gardner kinetic 0.37 guessing is thicker than the korda which I bought without looking at it, thinking fox maybe the way to go at 0.66 but how well does it sinnk, how abrasion resistant is it, does it lose colour.

Sorry, never bought a fox line so can't help with that. Just consider anything that sinks really well will cast like flooded waders.
Have you tried a thinner leadless like the PB one? Not a cheap way of doing it though

Avid do a braid shock leader but don't state diameter in add , don't want to order and find it's cheese wire.

Have you thought about using a short length of the new thinking anglers mainline braid as a leader? although the stated diameter is a bit misleading 0.34mm or 0.49mm uncrushed.

I've only ever used braid sea fishing or as a shock leader for casting but never for carp fishing. What I'm looking for is a shock leader for long range on a very snag riden venue with crystal clear water but want to maximise safety, don't want a cheese wire thin braid at the business end. Thinking I may have to use a metre ish of my usual fox or avid lead free leader attached to a sinking braid shock leader but would have preferred a thick shock/snag leader to prevent the need for a knot which could collect weed preventing the rig coming free if the worst should happen.

Whatever braided leader i have used i still have used either tubing or initially leadcore which has since been replaced with leadfree leader as protection for the fish.
It will be interesting to see what ideas others come up with

Whenever I have used braid as a Mainline I always use a mono leader or a length of tubing on the mainline as I have seen severe cuts on the fish from braid straight through.
The 30lb Amnesia avoids that risk totally, and is strong enough to use as a shock leader for casting with leads up to 4oz.
Amnesia has a multitude of uses, leaders, boom sections, stiff links

Why a braid leader? .....have you considered a 30-40lb fluoro leader? Attach with an Albright knot.. It can be a bit unruly though, even on a big pit spool.....

Braided leader is to maximise range but the venue is also extremely snaggy. I've used amnesia as a shock leader before but its not great for casting at long range. I'm looking at suffix 832 in 0.20 for my reel line, just un decided on the leader.
