Picked up some Powermesh rods this week 3 piece twelve footers in lovely condition. When the light catches the blank they just sparkle lol

They look hardly used which made me wonder when these were for sale in the tackle shops new, does anyone know? I was wondering maybe mid nineties?

Also, anyone why aren't blanks manufactured with carbon strands anymore is it a fashion thing or more practical than that?

Code (if it helps) is pmc2212t and they have the weave on both sections.

I have a pair of Powermesh Specialist rods,sound the same look as yours but two piece. I bought them in '94.

I have 4 power mesh in 11ft 2.25. They're lovely small water rods. The mk1 was early to mid 90's

I believe they were around the £100 mark when new.

Daiwa had some cheaper ones around that time. Vulcan, Dictators etc. The Vulcans you can pick up on the cheap now on gumtree and the like, but the decal on them looked awful.

And were the WKN's and AKN's the range of carp rods before?

I remember admiring some WKN's in my local tackle shop around 88/89.

Whiskers came before amorphous, both were the then top of the range rods, power mesh range were lower range and a fair bit cheaper.

The amorphous braid became to expensive.

I still use a set of 12 ft 2.5lb whiskers as my small water rods. Love them and I'll be buried with them!!

Had a pair myself, whisker Kevlar but think they were 11ft 2.25tc must have been mid 80's ish.

The Powermesh range were very nice rods going through to the late 1990's.

I still have and use when I want to fish over 100yards my AKN12H 2.75 rods
