Hi as per title. Am looking at pods as I am more than likely going to be fishing off platforms a bit more this winter . Have found myself leaning towards the JRC Coccoon or Contact. Budget is sub £100 . Any users or experience of these? Other suggestions welcome,but only trad' style pods...these singlez type things with stabilisers just don't interest me. In a nutshell..low,stable, can fit 3 FX11's nicely and sensibly priced!

Don't waste your money on a hundred quid or less pile of junk, false economy. A cheap pod will fall to bits. Save up and buy a Solar worldwide P1 and be done with it; last a lifetime and is capable in all situations.

rubbish! ... I have Fox pods that cost less than £100 at the time and have lasted nearly 20years and still going strong.

Likewise, had a Fox Stalker+ pod for a fair few years now, think it was £65. Looking at it, I don't see what can go wrong with it either. Comes with 2 and 3 rod buzz bars. My lad also has one, he uses his all of the time and it's still fine. Whereas I only use mine when I can't get banksticks in.

Is the pod you mention still available now and made to the same tolerances, if not, other than price, your point is moot. Also worth noting is Inflation: what would be the cost of the pod you bought way back 20 years cost now, definitely not the same money, no?
The Fox black label gear of recent times is dreadful. Cheaply made gear that's fit for the bin in no time, that is unless you fish a handful of times a year, then maybe it'll last a while longer than what I'm suggesting.

These cheap pods are mass produced to a certain price point with generally cheap/low quantity materials. They may be ok if you're fishing places with mowed lawns, however if for example you have to drive things into the ground, you put pressure on the cheap materials which end up going all loose and rattly and fall apart...been there, seen it and done it.
The other thing worth mentioning is these things are mostly pumped out of China, what about supporting British manufacturers of which there are plenty? I mentioned two earlier, a third that I should give a well deserved shout out to is Defiant MPS <-- great kit.

Yes, agreed. Defiant MPS are one of the best, if the guy wanted/afford or justify spending nearly 3 times his budget. There is nothing wrong with spending less and upgrading if necessary in the future.
