We all know that hemp is such an attractive food for carp, so why don't more people make hemp boilies?

Lots of people use hemp oil either to put into their spod mix or coat boilies or even inject into solid bags but you can also use the oil in your boilie mix as well. Lots to choose from.

Because it doesn't work as well in boilie form, as it does in it's natural 'magic' seed form.
Nutrabaits used to sell a such a base mix years ago, called the total hemp mix. Discontinued ages ago.

Premier Baits do Hemp Amino bait with high levels of Hemp and a binder to help keep it together.

their custom rolling services allows you to add Hemp to help breakdown the bait in water

That's interesting. Have you used them before and we're they successful?

I thought Nutrabaits Total Hemp Mix boilies would be absolutely brilliant over hemp seed itself on Taverham.
A mate and I filled in a swim on Taverham with a 10kilo base mix bucket full of hemp, a couple of kilos of hemp pellets and fished Hemp Mix and Big Fish Mix boilies over the top.

We had around 10 fish from the swim overnight, and not 1 came on the Hemp boilies, only the BFM.
Really weird, we checked the attractors, the levels were low, and worked on other mixes, (I actually used the same flavour and EO combination successfully previously and after on Taverham and other waters), the hemp mix just did not work, I could not buy a bite on it.

Taverham could be weird, it was very fishmeal orientated for a while, but normally any bait fished over hemp would catch.

I have done very well on crushed hemp, grilled hemp and hemp seed itself in groundbaits, or hemp as particle attractor, just not found it to work in boilie form, even hemp pellets don't seem as attractive as the neat product

Emp as we call it in SE London. Probably one of the best baits around. You fish it in any other form probably not so good. And probably the reason why not so many companies produce a Emp boilie.

Bought a bucket of Emp pellets once couldn't buy a bight fishing with them. Ewe nuts I believe was there real name produced for the animal feed industry. Judging by the amount of dust and stalks in the bottom of the bucket dont think there was actually much of a Emp content in them. Ended up throwing the rest away.Probably the reason I had no joy on them.

But if you are looking for a Emp based boilie I believe Poacher baits still do one to special order called Purple Haze. Strange name I know. Dont ask me why..

Alex, you keep asking a lot of bait questions and asking if they were successful. Bait really isntthe be all and end all of carp fishing. A good bait you can still blank, a crap bait you can still catch. Just use a quality bait and concentrate on getting that bait in the right place. Location is the key to catching carp, bait just helps when you've worked that bit out

Ian is right, Alex. Take care trying to learn too fast. There are many successful ways of catching carp and rigs & boilies aren't the be all and end all. Learn watercraft first; the rest will surely follow.

I am sticking to the same bait mate. 8 sessions blanked driving me crazy. I know it's the right location because I always walk round the lake first and pick a swim where I can physically see carp.

My rigs and everything else is not the probably either as I am catching multiple carp at other lakes in a session. The more I blank the more I am determined to catch there.

The hemp boilie question was just something that was playing on my mind. We could always go back to the leadcore thread?

Have you been asking a load of questions on leadcore then?

Just because you can see carp it doesn't mean that's the place to catch them. You need to find where they feed, and when too, watch their behaviour and learn that, and you will find the spot to put your bait. Just because you aren't catching it shouldn't mean you aren't learning . Keep at it and it will happen

Cheers mate. Sometimes I think I'm cursed at this lake. If I catch then I don't ask questions at all, but when I don't, especially in succession, then the doubt turns to questions on here.

But your right, I think I should focus those questions on other aspects like the carps behaviour and feeding patterns. How can I tell if carp are feeding when they are most likely doing so on the bottom?

Fizzing, cloudy water, clear spots opening up. I used to fish a lake where fish would regularly show over a certain spot but no-one could ever get a take from there. The same lake was very difficult to catch from during the day but easy at night.
Are you sure?
